Why Rose Hanbury Has Been Advised to ‘Keep Quiet’ About the Prince William Affair Rumors
When news of Prince William allegedly cheating on Kate Middleton and having an affair with Rose Hanbury made headlines, there was no reaction from any of the parties involved. It appears that, in Hanbury’s case, she was advised not to comment on the matter, though the cheating rumors have understandably made things difficult for her.
The cheating rumors started in April
The gossip about Prince William cheating on Middleton first surfaced in April and, for a time, marched along with plenty of followup headlines and speculation about whether there was any truth to the rumors or not.
Prince William and Middleton didn’t comment on the matter, nor did Hanbury, though more reports claim some damage has definitely been done.
At the time the rumors first started, there was plenty of discussion about Middleton reportedly wanting to phase Hanbury out of their social circle, with The Sun reporting that, according to a source, “It is well known that Kate and Rose have had a terrible falling out. They used to be close but that is not the case any more. William wants to play peacemaker so the two couples can remain friends, given they live so close to each other and share many mutual friends.”
The insider also noted: “But Kate has been clear that she doesn’t want to see them any more and wants William to phase them out, despite their social status.”
What was Middleton’s reaction to the cheating rumors?
Throughout the course of the alleged affair coverage, there were some reports about how those involved were feeling.
Recently, Middleton’s reaction to the affair gossip was reported on, with a source noting that she found the news “hurtful” but was most concerned about her children having to read about the ugly rumors at some point. A family friend told Us Weekly “Kate finds the rumors hurtful, obviously, and hates the thought that one day her children will be able to read about them online.”
Hanbury was advised to stay quiet
When Hanbury arrived at the state dinner banquet for President Donald Trump, also attended by Prince William and Middleton, all eyes were on where they were seated at the event and if there would be an awkward encounter. Hanbury sat a distance from the couple, though royal fans did take note of her entrance to the dinner, where she was photographed without her wedding band.
One source explained to The Sun: “these are very, very trying times for Rose and she has not found it easy knowing that she is the subject of gossip simply because she happened to form a good friendship with the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge.”
Additionally, a source close to Hanbury told the Mail on Sunday that “people are worried about her,” adding, ‘It has caused her great distress to have suddenly found herself the talking point of everyone in the area. She is very aware about what is being said and she has tried to put a brave face on it.”
The source added: “On top of that, she has a husband who is away more than he is present. It has been a lonely time.”
Another friend explained the pain of the rumors, remarking, “It’s been very hard on them. I know it has really upset them… There is absolutely no truth in it and it has been incredibly hard for them.”
The friend continued, “It is not true, all nonsense, but she knows that it is very hard to say anything. She just has to wait until it all blows over. That is what the couple have been advised and that is all she can do.”
A spokesman for Hanbury and her husband did note: “There is no foundation to any of the tabloid articles that have appeared. There is nothing else to say whatsoever.”
