Why Royal Fans Don’t Exactly Trust Princess Beatrice’s Fiancé
Everyone loves a good royal wedding and fans are in luck because now it Princess Beatrice’s time to shine. Her engagement to Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi was announced this week. Most royal watchers are excited, but there are a few who are cautious about property-tycoon fiance. Is he in it for the right reasons?
Who is Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi?
Princess Beatrice has known Mapelli Mozzi for a long time because their families have run in the same circles for years. He’s the step-son of Christopher Shale, who was good pals with the ex-prime minister, David Cameron.
Although they’ve been aware of each other, Beatrice and Mapelli Mozzi didn’t become close until they reconnected at her sister Princess Eugenie’s wedding last year.
Mapelli Mozzi is an Italian Count after inheriting the title from his father: Olympic skier Count Alessandro Mapelli Mozzi. He was previously engaged to Chinese-American architect, Dara Huang, with whom he shares a two-year-old son. Mapelli Mozzi’s relationship with Huang ended last year, just before he started dating Princess Beatrice.
Friends and family are supportive of the couple
The couple has been enjoying a whirlwind romance ever since they met. No one was really surprised when the engagement was announced, because they get along so well.
Buckingham Palace made the news public in an official announcement which included a statement from the couple. “We share so many similar interests and values and we know this will stand us in great stead for the years ahead, full of love and happiness,” it read in part.
Beatrice and Mapelli Mozzi weren’t the only ones to comment on how well they seem fit for one another. Mapelli Mozzi’s parents made a statement in the official announcement that read in part: “Edo and Beatrice are made for each other, and their happiness and love for each other is there for all to see. They share an incredibly strong and united bond, their marriage will only strengthen what is already a wonderful relationship.”
Princess Eugenie was quick to congratulate her sister on Instagram with a similar sentiment. “Beabea – wow! I’m so happy for you my dearest big sissy and dear Edo. It’s been a long time coming and you two are meant to be,” she wrote.
Photographer, Misan Harriman also pointed out the couple’s compatibility when she shared some photos of the couple. “Everything clicks when they are together and that’s exactly what my lens captured. It was an honour to observe and document such love,” she wrote.
Everyone who’s close to the couple seems to comment about how well they click, and how they make a great team.
Why are fans wary of Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi?
Royals fans want to be excited for Princess Beatrice, but there is some concern about her fiance since he just got out of a long term relationship. No one wants to see her be the rebound girl.
Another concern, since Mapelli Mozzi’s relationship with Huang ended so quickly, was he eager to date Princess Beatrice for the royal title? Mapelli Mozzi is a millionaire in his own right, and he’s a Count, but marrying a princess would lift his status even higher. Is that enough for him to dump the mother of his child and take the opportunity with Princess Beatrice?
We can’t know for sure what Mapelli Mozzi’s intentions are, but we can be comforted by the fact that everyone around the couple mentions how well they seem to click, and how many mutual interests they have.
Princess Beatrice has lived with a royal title all her life. She’s probably run into a fair amount of men that are interested in her for the attention and status. However, she’s probably developed some tools to weed out those kinds of men over the years.
Since Princess Beatrice seems so happy and excited, we should follow her lead, trust her judgment, and wish the new couple all the best.
