Why Former Bachelor Sean Lowe Thinks Peter Weber Probably Won’t Get Married After His ‘Bachelor’ Season
The odds are not in Peter Weber‘s favor.
Sean Lowe remains the only bachelor to marry his final pick. The Bachelorette and Bachelor In Paradise don’t have great track records for successful couples either, but The Bachelor is definitely the worst.
The show’s been around for 23 seasons and only two other bachelors have married someone from their season. Oddly enough, though, they both married their runner-ups (Jason Mesnick and Arie Luyendyk Jr.). Colton Underwood is still with his final rose recipient Cassie Randolph, but they are not engaged.
Sean Lowe is amazed anyone can find a successful relationship on ‘The Bachelor’
Lowe spoke to Entertainment Tonight last week and said he doesn’t have the highest of hopes for Weber.
“I wish [Peter Weber] nothing but the best. I hope that he can find himself a Catherine. If history’s an indicator, the odds are probably not in his favor,” he said. “That sounds really pessimistic, but I’m hoping maybe he’ll be another Bachelor who can get married.”
Lowe told the publication he’s surprised the show produces any successful couples at all.
“I’m actually surprised there are as many married couples as there are because let’s face it, we got engaged on a really wacky, kind of ridiculous TV show,” he said of his relationship with Catherine.
Lowe continued: “It can be heartfelt and sincere at times, of course, but it also has a lot of wacky moments. And then when you think about all the people who are on the show, they come from different cities, so that just adds a different level of difficulty once you get engaged — who is going to move and what does the future look like, and how do you live life without the cameras around.”
“So, to me, it’s really surprising how many married couples are there now. Six? Seven? People talk about the low success rate quite a bit, but I actually think given the circumstances it’s pretty high,” he added.
Lowe also spoke about how the franchise has gained a sort of sex-positive spin to it in recent seasons. He’s not convinced the show’s actually changed at all.
“I think the show kind of tailors itself around the lead, and so going into my season, of course, the producers had a chance to be with me during the course of The Bachelorette. So, they knew who I was and they knew what I stood for and where my faith was and that kind of thing. They kind of knew what was off the table,” the former bachelor recalled.
“So, I don’t think things are changing like maybe some people think they are,” he continued.
Sean Lowe’s advice to Peter Weber
Being the only bachelor to marry his season winner, Lowe offered this advice to Weber:
“At the end of the season, if you are engaged to someone, you just have to put them first, because there will be a million distractions and it’s easy to get caught up in it,'” he shared. “I’m not going to say I did it perfectly, because I did not. But you definitely have to commit to your new fiancee, and make them feel very special every chance you get, because it will be challenging.”
