Why Simon Cowell Can’t Eat His Own Birthday Cake
Simon Cowell is turning 60 in October, and the entertainment mogul definitely has a lot of things in his life to celebrate. He has a successful career and is currently in a relationship with his partner, Lauren Silverman. The couple also has a five-year-old son together.
However, despite all of these good things in Cowell’s life as he turns 60, you will not find him eating a cake on his birthday to celebrate. Find out why Cowell cannot eat a birthday cake below.
Simon Cowell was told to lose weight
When Cowell was getting a serious “Dad Bod,” some people around him took notice and began telling him to lose weight.
According to Hello Magazine, Cowell’s ex-girlfriend — pop star Sinitta — had a talk with him about it after they finished filming X Factor together. She recalled:
“As we were leaving, I was kissing him goodbye and saying thank you, and as I said goodbye I whispered in his ear: ‘Babe, I’m really sorry to say this but I love you so much, and I’ve got to do this. You’re too handsome, you’re too fabulous, to let yourself go like this.'”
She also told Cowell: “‘I want you to be healthy, I want you to look good, I want you to feel good. This is not you and I think we need to address this.”
While most people would object to others telling them to lose weight, Cowell actually listened. He also has acknowledged that he wanted to get in better shape in order to keep up with his young son and carry out his responsibilities as a father.
Simon Cowell has been on a vegan diet
When Cowell went to see a doctor about his health, he was told that he had “the worst diet” out of any patient the doctor had met with.
Cowell, then, began eating healthier. He decides to follow a vegan diet and cut out sugar, dairy, bread, and gluten from his meals. He told Access Hollywood: “The secret is, don’t follow one of the fad diets, because there’s just too many, and they contradict each other… You just have to cut out the obvious.”
He has lost a reported 20 pounds since changing up his lifestyle. Many onlookers have definitely taken noticed of Cowell’s weight loss, and people even accused him of getting gastric bypass surgery. However, Cowell has denied the rumors.
Aside from being physically healthier, he shared in another interview that the effect of the new diet on his mental health has been great as well. “You feel better, my memory is better,” Cowell said. “So I didn’t find it difficult. I can still have beer, so I’m happy.”
Simon Cowell’s diet does not allow for cake on his birthday
Since Cowell strictly does not eat sugar, this means that he would not eat a cake on his upcoming birthday. However, as Cowell told DeGeneres, even if he was not on a diet, he would not get a birthday cake anyway. As such, there isn’t much that he is missing out on.
“I’ve never actually liked celebrating my birthday,” Cowell said. “So I said to Lauren, ‘Can we just make one agreement this year? We don’t make a big deal out of it, just do something quiet — no birthday cake — and I’ll just get through it.'”
Things seem to be working out well for Cowell in the end. He will turn 60 on October 7.
