The controversy started when the reality star posted a video of a homeless woman on his Instagram account. She had several large bags of cans and was sitting on the sidewalk covering her face.

Although the woman didn’t want to show her face, Rose was still filming her. “Look at me. Nice cans! I mean, the cans you have!” he said to her. The woman yelled back, “No!” The reality star captioned the video with, “I love double entendres. Yes she was camera shy. But she laughed.”

Fans were angry after watching the video. They showed their anger on social media. The reality star wasn’t backing down at first. He wrote in response to one fan, “Omg. I offended you! Ok. Here’s the plan, sensitivity training 5 times a week. Then intensive therapy (hot yoga?) followed by a public flogging in the town square. Then i move to Siberia and live in an igloo for 4 months. At this point. I think I’ll be cleansed of your disapproval.”

He then wrote under another Twitter thread, “Unfollow then. No big deal.” Other fans tried to get Andy Cohen and Bravo’s attention on Twitter by tagging their accounts in tweets about the video.

Rose responded to one tweet with, “Always get a chuckle when people try to send me to the principles [sic] office. I bet you were a scream in high school!” according to People.

He later apologized for the video

The reality star later had a different tone to the backlash. He deleted the video and addressed his actions in a more apologetic tone.

He wrote on Twitter, “I know some people were upset about the video from Sunday night. It was a stupid joke and bad idea all around. Also a bit out of context. I spent a few minutes with her talking and telling jokes. She laughed a little. But Yeah, wasn’t cool or funny. Mea culpa.”

He deactivated his Twitter account

Southern Charm fans will no longer find the reality star’s Twitter account. That’s because he deactivated it after leaving a message to fans.

I feel absolutely sick about all that’s transpired this week,” he tweeted before deactivating according to People. He continued, “I’ve compounded stupidity upon stupidity. Just know that I never intended to hurt anyone. And I do enjoy sharing my adventures and thoughts with you. But I blew it. Anyway, gonna take a little break. And look inward.”

His Instagram is still active. Rose’s last post is a video of him at the beach. He runs into the ocean and the caption is all about being against body shaming.

The caption reads, “Don’t body shame! Let’s more focus on the body of water i [sic] can’t seem to not jump into any ocean/lake/lagoon. It’s like reverse evolution. Going to see @swollymammoth.llc when i [sic] get back to Chucktown. We need to get my Fall Body ready for football season. #fallbod.”
