Things have been constantly updating over at The Wendy Williams Show because of the host’s personal life. It will soon go on hiatus during the week of April 1st and return April 8, but why? Here is everything you need to know.

The talk show host was previously away for her show for two months. Her family released a statement explaining why.

As Wendy Williams Hunter previously shared, she fractured her shoulder and has been on the mend,” read the statement according to Deadline. “Over the past few days, Wendy has experienced complications regarding her Graves’ Disease that will require treatment. Wendy will be under the strict supervision of her physicians, and as part of her care, there will be significant time spent in the hospital. Despite her strong desire to return, she is taking a necessary, extended break from her show to focus on her personal and physical well-being.”

During that time repeat episodes aired and other stars like Jerry O’Connell stepped in to host.

She recently revealed that she is living in a sober house

Williams more recently opened up about her living situation on the show. She began by talking about her past use of cocaine and crack.

Once you’re a substance abuser, you have to battle that for the rest of your life,” she said according to Page Six. “I’ve told you about my 10-year ride with the cocaine and the crack. Oh, yes, crack is wack — but it was very good to me at a particularly stupid point in my life. … I was a mess, functioning, killing myself.”

She later gave an update on how she’s doing. “I have been living in a sober house,” Williams said according to Page Six. “… You know I’ve had a struggle with cocaine in the past. I never went to a place to get treatment … there are people in your family, it might be you … I want you to know more of the story.”

She reportedly was later hospitalized after getting too intoxicated after her sober house reveal. It was also reported that her husband’s mistress gave birth to his baby.

The hiatus was reportedly scheduled and has nothing to do do with Williams’ personal life

It turns out the hiatus is coming right on schedule. “The Wendy Williams Show is taking a previously scheduled spring break hiatus and airing repeat episodes during the week of April 1st,” a spokeswoman said according to Page Six. “The show will return with original episodes on April 8th.”

Another production source reportedly said, “This obviously has nothing to do with recent events” and “The staff is excited to have Wendy back, and they understand what’s been going on with her, but it’s business as usual.”

The good news is that the hiatus will be very short. The show will return on April 8.
