Why ‘Veronica Mars’ Fans Want This Actor to Appear in a Marvel Movie

If Marvel is looking for a new superhero (and we have a feeling they’re on the hunt for several at this time), then we’ve got the answer for them. This Veronica Mars actor is perfect to play a hero or a villain in the MCU. And, sadly, he’s got some free time on his hands. Here’s who we’re talking about.

What is ‘Veronica Mars’ about?

For those who aren’t familiar, here’s a quick rundown: Veronica Mars was an early ‘00s series that ran for three seasons on UPN/The CW. It’s about a teenage girl who is skilled at detective work and often finds herself beating the cops and even her PI father to the truth. When Veronica Mars was canceled, fans were devastated.

So somehow, it became the series that just wouldn’t die. There was a 2013 film that was crowdfunded by the fans, and, now, Veronica Mars Season 4 on Hulu. The new season brought back familiar faces like Jason Dohring’s Logan Echolls and Ryan Hansen’s Dick Casablancas, along with her characters like bar owner Nicole, played by Kirby Howell-Baptiste.

Season 4 has received a lot of hate

Because it was very concise, the mystery of Season 4 was a past-faced adventure that few could find fault with. There were nods to the past, but not too many, and the season can also stand on its own. But what many fans were focused on was the romance between Veronica and Logan, who were together in high school and college and now, finally, as adults.

In the first episode of Season 4, Veronica turns down Logan when he proposes. Bell later expressed that she felt this might be the reason people weren’t happy with the season. But overwhelmingly, what most hated about it was the sudden twist at the very end, in which a bomb goes off and kills Logan.

Here’s what Dohring said about his character

The decision to kill off Logan hit many fans hard. Creator Rob Thomas defended his decision, as did Bell. The actress said, “I would say that I hope people recognize without conflict, there is no show. They would be dissatisfied if we had a perfect show…It would not be a reinvention of anything. It would not make any progress in Veronica’s life.”

Obviously, no actor is unhappy to be out of work, especially with the potential for Veronica Mars Season 5 looming. “No one was probably more upset than I was,” Dohring said of Logan’s death. “But for the good of the show…in that way, I can’t stay around.” He thanked his fans, saying, “I really appreciate you guys over the years, just truly. Thanks.”

Fans want Dohring to play a superhero

It’s been a little over a month now since Season 4 came out, and wounds are finally beginning to heal for some. So how to best move on? How about casting Dohring in something even bigger?

Dohring’s abs are — well, a marvel, to borrow words from another Cheat Sheet writer. Many on Twitter agree, including Vanity Fair writer Joanna Robinson and MLB.com editor Whitney McIntosh. Or, what about a villain in the upcoming DCEU sequel to Shazam! Yes, please.

What is Dohring working on now?

The good news is that Dohring is likely available for whatever comes his way. According to IMDb, he currently only has one project on the horizon: The Justine Bateman-directed drama feature Violet, in which he stars opposite Olivia Munn. That appears to be in post-production, so it looks like his schedule is open for Marvel or DC. Hit this man up, executives!
