Why Wendy Williams Is Living in a Sober House
Wendy Williams’ personal life has been the center of many rumors. For example, there were reports that her husband, Kevin Hunter cheated on her. The talk show host addressed that and is now opening up even more about her personal life. She revealed she is living in a sober house and this is why.
Wendy Williams previously opened up about her past use of cocaine and crack
The TV star’s health has made it into the news because she took two months off from The Wendy Williams Show. She revealed that she has Graves’ disease and was out due to complications. When she returned, she talked about her history with drug use.
“Once you’re a substance abuser, you have to battle that for the rest of your life,” she said according to Page Six. “I’ve told you about my 10-year ride with the cocaine and the crack. Oh, yes, crack is wack — but it was very good to me at a particularly stupid point in my life. … I was a mess, functioning, killing myself. I realize that I am a walking addict. Do you know what I’m saying? You can’t just clean it up and stop it and think it’s not going to affect you.”
She has since opened up about her health again and revealed where she is living.
Williams said she is currently living in a sober house
The talk show host revealed her new living situation on the show on March 19. She also talked about why she wanted to open up about it.
“I have been living in a sober house,” Williams said according to Page Six. “… You know I’ve had a struggle with cocaine in the past. I never went to a place to get treatment … there are people in your family, it might be you … I want you to know more of the story.”
She went on to talk about her recent routine. “After I go to the Pilates and go to several meetings all around town in the tri-state area, I see my brothers and sisters caught up in their addiction and looking for help,” said Williams. “They don’t know I’m Wendy. They don’t care I’m Wendy. It’s the brothers and sisters caught up in the struggle. It’s been really interesting, this ride.”
Williams said only her husband, Kevin Hunter knew about this
The talk show host’s inner circle was largely unaware about her living situation. Her big reveal might be a surprise to them too.
“Only Kevin knows about this. Not my parents, nobody. Nobody knew because I look so glamorous out here,” she said. “After I finish my appointments … I am driven by my 24-hour sober coach back to a home that I live in the tri-state with a bunch of smelly boys who have become my family. … We talk and read and talk and read and then I get bored with them. Doors locked by 10 p.m., lights out by 10 p.m., so I go to my room and stare at the ceiling and fall asleep to come here and see you. So that is my truth.”
The Instagram page for The Wendy Williams show posted videos of Williams opening up about her struggle with addiction with the caption, “If you or a loved one is struggling with addiction, help is available. For more information visit thehunter-foundation.org or call 1-888-5Hunter (548-6837).”
