Will Chris Pratt and Katherine Schwarzenegger Have a Secret Wedding?
By now, most of the world knows that Chris Pratt and Katherine Schwarzenegger are engaged. Pratt made the big announcement via social media because he stated they wanted to “stay ahead of the press” for once.
Now that the world knows the two young lovebirds are engaged, many wonder if they’ll try to keep their wedding a secret. It isn’t a far fetched notion. In fact, there are a lot of things which point towards the two keeping their upcoming wedding secret. Here’s what we know.
Chris Pratt had a secret wedding with Anna Faris
Before he fell in love with Arnold Schwarzenegger’s daughter, Pratt was married to Anna Faris for eight years. When the couple tied the knot, it was a spur-of-the-moment, spontaneous event that nobody knew was happening until it was all over.
Pratt and Faris eloped while on vacation in Bali while – get this – they were both suffering from a bad case of food poisoning. Faris saw the hotel did weddings, and (while still feverish) Pratt said: “let’s do it.” So, the hotel staff found the couple traditional Balinese clothing and a priest. Then, they were married.
This isn’t out of the ordinary for Chris Pratt. The Guardians of the Galaxy actor is known for being spontaneous. When he comes to what he believes is a good decision, he goes for it. He also doesn’t like the press digging into his personal life.
Pratt and Schwarzenegger kept their relationship secret
Another big red flag the two might keep their marriage a secret is the way they kept their relationship out of the public eye for as long as possible. The two were eventually spotted at a picnic together in June 2018, and the press began suspecting they were a couple. But that rumor was not confirmed for another month, when a public kiss confirmed everyone’s suspicions.
By the time the press got ahold of those June picnic pictures, however, Pratt and Schwarzenegger were already in a full-swing relationship. They had begun talking months before and had started dating shortly after.
They have plenty of opportunities to hold a secret wedding
Chris Pratt and Katherine Schwarzenegger would have plenty of opportunities to hold a secret wedding. One theory is that they may elope while on vacation to keep the cameras at bay. They could then announce their marriage on social media in a similar way they did with the surprise engagement. A second theory states the two could marry at Pratt’s beautiful ranch on San Juan Island. It would provide a beautiful backdrop and offer more privacy. Either theory would be possible for Pratt and Schwarzenegger to pull off.
It would be in line with Pratt’s down-to-earth personality
As if his first wedding wasn’t proof enough, Chris Pratt has a very down-to-earth personality. He isn’t into huge, lavish events or letting the press into every aspect of his life. He avoids the public eye as much as any actor can, and enjoys “trivial” things.
Instead of fancy evenings out where insane amounts of money are spent, Pratt prefers simple things. Things like hiking, adventurous vacations, being involved with the church, and quiet evenings with his family.
Reluctance to share their engagement
While Chris Pratt did announce their engagement, there was a reluctance to do so. Besides an image of Pratt and Schwarzenegger hugging was the caption “Sweet Katherine, so happy you said yes! I’m thrilled to be marrying you. Proud to live boldly in faith with you. Here we go!”
When the announcement went viral, however, Pratt stated he’d have preferred to keep their engagement a secret for as long as possible. The big announcement via social media came out of a desire to “stay ahead of the paparazzi” who, according to Pratt, had “camped outside their gates” since the two revealed they were dating.
