It’s been almost 18 years since the first Fast and Furious movie hit the big screens. Ever since, fans have flocked to theaters to see the latest installment. Filming is set to begin on Fast 9 and fans can’t help but wonder who will appear in the movies and will the feud between Dwayne Johnson and Vin Diesel affect casting decisions?

The Rock and Diesel began feuding on the set of Fast 8

Fans first knew that something was amiss when Johnson began posting on social media about troubles with his co-workers. In 2016, Johnson went to Instagram and praised his female co-stars. But his post didn’t end there. He continued on saying that his male co-stars were a different story: “Some conduct themselves as stand up men and true professionals, while others don’t. The ones that don’t are too chicken s–t to do anything about it anyway. Candy *sses.” Johnson didn’t call out specific actors, but many thought the post might be aimed at Diesel.

Johnson continued to make things awkward when he again took to Instagram thanking everyone he worked with except Diesel. Shortly after, fellow co-star, Gibson, seemed to confirm there was a beef between Johnson and Diesel when he shared a picture of himself and Diesel, stating, “If no one else will jump out there and stand up I will.”

Vin Diesel isn’t the only one feuding with The Rock

It seems like Johnson’s negative comments aren’t the only thing Gibson has a problem with. The actor took to Instagram once again, this time commenting on one of Johnson’s photos. Though the comment has since been deleted, it appears Gibson was not happy with Johnson signing a deal for a Fast and Furious spinoff, telling the actor, “If you move forward with that #Hobbs Movie you will have purposely ignored the heart to heart moment we had in my sprinter.”

In October 2017, Gibson once again took to Instagram furious that the release date for the film’s ninth installment had been pushed back a year. Gibson complained that Johnson had made the franchise all about himself and was the cause of the delayed release date.

Johnson confirmed he likely will not appear in ‘Fast 9’

It’s hard to know whether the cast feuding had anything to do with casting decisions for Fast 9. Though Gibson previously threatened to quit Fast and Furious if Johnson were a part of the movie, it appears that all of the stars have come to some level of reconciliation for now.

Whatever the reason, Johnson will not be appearing in the latest Fast movie. In a recent interview, the star told MTV, “As of now we’re not in Fast 9 because they’re getting ready to start shooting.

Will Dwayne Johnson appear in ‘Fast and Furious 10’?

Right now, it’s anyone’s guess whether Johnson will appear in the final installment of the Fast and Furious franchise. Johnson told MTV that though he is not appearing in Fast 9 as of now, he is not ruling out an appearance in the 10th installment. Johnson told MTV,

“…who knows, with Fast 10 down the road, you never know. Because, look, at the end of the day, the truth is, at the end of the day, there’s unfinished business between Hobbs and Dom. It’s unfinished.”

Fans may not be able to see the whole crew together in 2020, but that doesn’t mean it’s the end of the line for Luke Hobbs. Johnson told MTV that the goal has always been for the franchise to expand. Fans can watch Hobbs in the franchise’s first spin-offFast and Furious Presents: Hobbs and Shaw later this year. And speaking of spin-offs, it looks like fans can expect a female-led Fast and Furious down the road as well.
