Will Jamie Lannister Kill His Pregnant Sister in ‘Game of Thrones’ Season 8?

Never mind whether Jaime Lannister will die during Game of Thrones’ final season or not — many people are wildly speculating that Jaime, portrayed by Nikolaj Coster-Waldau, will be involved in the death of a major character: his sister (and romantic interest) Cersei Lannister.

Nikolaj Coster-Waldau dropped some hints

Some of the speculations come from Coster-Waldau’s recent appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live, where he strongly hinted at Cersei’s fate.

“It makes sense, though if you think about it, “the actor said when Kimmel tossed out that particular theory. The host went on to speculate that there are even theories on how he would do the deed.

Kimmel suggested: “Arya will use Jaime’s face to kill Cersei.”

“That would be cool, wouldn’t it?” replied the actor, before putting forth his own wilder idea. “I think everyone thinks it’s Jon Snow, but there is also something about a guy called Bielsa which is a guy who comes and will magically transform the world for the good. So when everything is lost, he will come and magically transform the north into this beautiful paradise.”

For those who don’t know the international soccer scene, the actor was making a joke about Leeds United manager Marcelo Bielsa. Kimmel replied: “Everyone will be so mad if that happens. That is the equivalent of ‘it was all a dream'”

But Coster-Waldau indicated he knows the ending – and whether fans guess right or not, they’ll be impressed. “When I read it the first time I was blown away,” he said. “I wrote to Dan and David [the two creators] and I was like, “I don’t know how you did it but I can’t imagine a better ending to this show.”

Shaking the ‘Game of Thrones’ magic 8 ball

Nerdist theorizes not just that Jaime will kill Cersei – but that he will have to.  Back in season 5, Cersei visited Maggy the Frog, a fortune-teller who had been correct before.

Maggy predicted Cersei will be murdered by “the valonqar,” which is High Valyrian for “little brother.” Cersei believed Tyrion was the valonqar. But that could be Jaime, as he’s technically younger than Cersei, if only by a few minutes.

Currently, Cersei is pregnant with Jamie’s child. This would make it even more emotional and dramatic if Jamie resorts to killing Cersei. And while it seems hard to imagine Jamie killing the woman he loves, he has technically already betrayed her by defecting to fight against the Night King. When asked why he left, Jamie cites “survival,” so perhaps the same reason will justify him killing his sister.

That said, Jamie isn’t the only Lannister with sibling murder on his mind. In episode one of the eighth season, Cersei ordered the murder of her brothers: she hired a man to kill both Jamie and Tyrion should they survive the war with the Night King.
