Josh Duggar, the oldest member of the Duggar family, married his wife, Anna Keller, back in 2008. Since then, the couple has seen their share of ups and downs: And plenty of those ups include their several children. But now that the couple’s marriage seems to be in a good place, will they have any more kids?

Josh and Anna Duggar began courting more than a decade ago

When 19 Kids and Counting first premiered, Josh Duggar, who was 20 at the time, had been courting Anna Keller. The couple met back in 2006 at a homeschooling convention when they were both teenagers. Both sets of parents were delighted at the thought of the two entering into a courtship (Anna’s parents were just as conservative as Josh’s). About two years later, the couple officially wed, and the wedding was shown on the second season of the show. The two also noted in the episode that they would leave their number of children up to God. Both Josh and Anna grew up in large families, and they both said they’d welcome as many children as God wants them to have.

But major marriage troubles arose with Josh’s Ashley Madison and sex abuse scandals

While the couple’s relationship appeared blissful for a while, by 2015, things had begun to fall apart. Rumors about Josh sexually abusing friends and family members as a teenager began to surface; inTouch broke the story that shattered the Duggars’ lives. And around the same time, Josh’s Ashley Madison profiles were discovered. (Ashley Madison is a site that married people use to find affairs.) It rocked the couple’s marriage, as well as the entire family, and nobody felt the pain quite like Anna.

After spending time rebuilding their marriage, the couple welcomed their fifth child

Josh confessed to cheating in a statement posted on the family’s website just a few months after dealing with the sex abuse scandal. Despite all of the broken trust between him and his wife, Anna did not want to end their marriage. Instead, the couple retreated from the spotlight and chose to work on their marriage to try and rebuild the trust they had lost. In a blog post about two years later, Anna said the couple had spent a lot of time in rebuilding mode.

“For nearly the last two years, we have quietly worked to save our marriage, focus on our children, and rebuild our lives together as a family,” Anna wrote. The couple then announced they were expecting a fifth child. “Beauty comes from ashes,” Anna said of their newest pregnancy announcement. She gave birth in September 2017.

The Duggars do not believe in birth control, so more children are likely on the horizon

Now that the Duggars’ marriage appears to be in a good place, they will most likely have more children. The Duggar family does not believe in birth control, and Josh and Anna are no different. The two have said from the beginning that they want as many children as God has in store for them. Despite going through tremendous marriage troubles, the couple appears to be much happier today. We can assume that it’s only a matter of time before they announce Anna’s sixth pregnancy.
