Will Kanye West Really Run For President?
Kanye West has a history of outlandish behavior and bizarre claims. The fashion designer and musician clearly has a high opinion of himself. In fact, it seems Kanye West thinks so highly of himself that he intends to run for president in 2024.
Fans of West may recall that he made a similar promise in the past, claiming that he’d run for president in 2020. Whether he decided not to go up against his buddy Donald Trump, or if it’s because it was all hot air at the time, we’ll never know. However, he’s what we do know about Kanye West’s alleged 2024 presidential bid.
Kanye West laughed at on stage
Kanye West first revealed his intention to run for president during the MTV Video Music Awards in 2015. At the time, West said, “I don’t know what I finna lose after this. It don’t matter, though; It’s not about me. It’s about ideas. New ideas. People with ideas. People who believe in truth. And yes, as you probably could’ve guessed by this moment, I have decided in 2020 to run for president.”
It’s now apparent that the 2020 run didn’t pan out, however that clearly hasn’t stopped Kanye West from envisioning a future run at the presidency. In fact, he recently announced that he plans to make a run at the Oval Office in 2024. However, the audience wasn’t on the same page as West.
“When I run for president in 2024, we’re gonna definitely,” started out Kanye, before he was interrupted by audience laughter. “Now what y’all laughing at?” asked Kanye, while the audience chuckled again.
Kanye simply stared angrily at the audience and then continued. He outlined one of his main platforms, which seems to be job creation.
Kanye West thinks he can create new jobs
Fans of Kanye West may have been following the development of his ranch in Wyoming. Kanye has been buying up land and expanding his ranch, and claims that he plans to move his Yeezy production to Cody, Wyoming.
In fact, Yeezy already has a new headquarters in Cody. “When I run for president in 2024, we would have created so many jobs that I’m not gonna run, I’m gonna walk,” claimed West, in a show of his trademark self-confidence.
West said, “Me and Steven are here to talk about this, about how Yeezy is going into innovation. We moved the headquarters to Cody, Wyoming. We have a 4,000-acre ranch, and we’re going to be farming and going seed to sow, and have our own cotton hydroponic farm, and our own hemp farm, and our own wheat farm so we can see every element.”
“Within the next two years, our goal is to bring the manufacturing back to America, South America, North America, to bring it back stateside and also to present jobs for people back here,” explained West.
What about Akon?
However, Kanye West isn’t the only artist trying to get into the White House. Akon has been making claims that he’s interested in a 2024 presidential bid as well, and has even said that he’d relish a competition with West, or perhaps even a collaboration.
“I know what the issues are. As a person, as an immigrant, as a black man, as whatever you want to call it, I kinda know or feel like I know that I can take the country and move it forward,” said Akon on an episode of The Real.
Akon went on to praise Kanye West, saying, “I need him to run. I want him to because it’s like this — Kanye’s not crazy. He’s just been awakened. My belief, because from a spiritual state, I just feel like he’s awake now. He’s [the] most amazing marketer in the world. He understands his audience — but he’s definitely not crazy.”
