Will Reeves be a Marvel superhero?

With Reeves bursting back in the mainstream as of late, many fans wonder what’s next for the actor. Some buzz started circulating that Reeves could be joining the MCU in a role in the upcoming Eternals movie.

Fan site MCU Cosmic reported that negotiations were underway for Reeves to come on board, though the site had no details.

Writer Jeremy Conrad noted: “I usually don’t bother with casting scoops, but given this source I’m confident in putting this out there. Again, it’s still early and sounds like negotiations are pretty recent. Still, I know Marvel fans have dreamed of seeing Keanu show up in the MCU (there’s fan art out there of him as Wolverine), and I personally thought he’d make a great Silver Surfer; but it seems like The Eternals is where he may end up.”

Marvel Studios president confirms there have been discussions

The rumors about Reeves joining the MCU have been confirmed by Kevin Feige, President of Marvel Studios, who noted there have been talks with the actor for longer than fans ever could have imagined.

Feige told Comicbook.com in a recent interview that Reeves has been in the Marvel mix for a while, sharing, “We talk to him for almost every film we make. We talk to Keanu Reeves about. I don’t know when, if, or ever he’ll join the MCU, but we very much want to figure out the right way to do it.”

Will the talking ever lead to a role?

It remains to be seen whether all of those discussions will translate into a role, though Feige did remark that a similar situation played out with Jake Gyllenhaal, who he explained they had talked to “multiple times” before casting him in the role as Mysterio in Spider-Man: Far From Home.

Despite all those conversations, Reeves hasn’t yet found his place in the MCU as there hasn’t been a perfect fit yet, but don’t give up hope. Feige didn’t comment on the rumors about Reeves appearing in the Eternals movie, so fans will have to see how the casting for that goes.

Reeves is killing at as Duke Caboom in Toy Story 4

Reeves’ voice is currently heard in the latest Toy Story installment, Toy Story 4, in which he plays motorcycle stuntman Duke Caboom.

During a press junket for the film Reeves compared voiceover work to his live-action roles, explaining: “I think in an odd way, you’re doing the same thing. You’re finding the emotions of the character, the timing of the character, and the voice of the character.”

He continued: “The thing that’s really cool about the film is how [the animators] physically embody Lightyear’s movements… You kind of just feel like you’re finding the emotion, the timing… It’s really the same thing in the way that you’re [acting] if you’re not doing an animated project.”
