Keeping Up With the Kardashians debuted on E! On October 14, 2007. That’s one year before Barack Obama first stepped into the Oval Office, three years after Mean Girls became a hit, and three full years before Instagram was even launched. When the show launched, Kylie Jenner was just 10 years old and Kendall was 11.

At the time, Kim the most well-known member of the family. Kim first landed in the spotlight when she was seen hanging out with socialite Paris Hilton, but gained enormous attention when that now-infamous tape was released.

Twelve years and 16 seasons later, the Kardashians are more famous than ever. Though their show has seen declining numbers in recent years, the family continues to get endless media attention. The cheating scandal involving Khloe’s now-ex, Tristan Thompson, and Kylie Jenner’s best friend, Jordyn Woods, dominated headlines for weeks. Currently, fans are obsessing over what Kim has named her newest baby boy.

Will Kim Kardashian’s desire to be a lawyer end ‘Keeping Up With the Kardashians’?

Kim recently revealed that she is studying to become a lawyer. She is taking an unconventional route and doing an internship program rather than attend law school. The reality star has admitted that she spends approximately 18 hours per week studying.

Kim first became interested in the law when she worked to help get Alice Marie Johnson released from prison. Since working on the case, the 38-year-old has spent countless hours working on prison reform. She recently revealed, “my goal would be in like, 10 years, to give up being Kim K and just focus on this and be an attorney and fight for so many deserving people.”

Will ‘Keeping Up With the Kardashians’ ever end?

There’s no question that the family is becoming increasingly busier. Kim recently welcomed her fourth child, while Kourtney has three of her own. Both Kylie and Khloe have a young baby of their own. In addition to their growing families, they also have increasingly demanding careers.

But it’s not just their families that are growing. The girls are also growing their own empires outside of their reality show. Kylie recently became the youngest self-made billionaire thanks to her popular cosmetics brand. Kim also has her own beauty brand. Additionally, most of the sisters have ongoing endorsement deals that generate their own revenue.

As the years go on, it will likely make sense for the women to focus on building their businesses and focusing on their families. While the show has been a success for many years, there will likely come a time where the family wants more privacy and will choose to invest in more stable sources of revenue.

Could we wake up and have the show be canceled tomorrow? Sure, but given society’s obsession with reality and the Kardashians specifically, it’s highly unlikely. The more likely scenario is that the family will choose when they are ready to say goodbye. We don’t see either scenario happening any time soon.
