Could Lady Gaga return for ‘American Horror Story: 1984’?

On Sept. 18, rumors of Lady Gaga’s casting in 1984 flooded the internet. Numerous fans with Dish Network subscriptions noticed the description for the American Horror Story Season 9 premiere hinted Lady Gaga, Kathy Bates, and Angela Bassett would be making an appearance in the episode.

“Wow😮is this mess up with Dish network?” one fan tweeted alongside photos of the description. “I see Lady Gaga and Kathy Bates and Angela Bassett going to be in American Horror Story: 1984.”

That being said, it’s likely Dish Network made a mistake and all three women won’t be on American Horror Story when it premieres season 9. Digital Spy previously stated both Bates and Bassett weren’t “taking part” in leading roles for 1984. Meanwhile, Comicbook.com pointed out Dish Network probably used an old cast description from Roanoke. Remember that Lady Gaga, Bates, and Bassett were all featured in the season.

Nevertheless, it’s still possible Lady Gaga will return to the FX franchise this season — and beyond. AHS is filled with unexpected twists and guest appearances. So don’t discount a cameo just yet, because anything could happen in the future. Just don’t hold your breath.

Who did Lady Gaga play in ‘AHS’?

Whether or not Mother Monster comes back in 1984, she has had her fair share of iconic roles on AHS. Gaga made her first appearance in the FX series during season 5’s Hotel. She portrayed Elizabeth Johnson — aka The Countess — who owned the Hotel Cortez. Gaga then returned to AHS for Roanoke, where she played the terrifying Scáthach, an immortal witch.

Of course, Gaga could slip into any character on the FX show. However, it does take quite a bit of practice on her part. In an interview with Variety, the singer and actor revealed she did her research on murderers to make The Countess appear “effortless and honest.”

“I find it funny that people wonder if that’s just the way that I really am, so this was very easy for me to just kind of walk in here with my blonde hair on and just be a bitch and be rude to everyone and that’s just what I do, because you’ve seen me do something like that before,” she said. “The truth is that it’s actually very challenging to be sincere when you have all of that on. It’s not comfortable. It’s never been comfortable for me.”

It’s been a hot minute since Lady Gaga left American Horror Story. But fans are still holding out hope for Mother Monster’s next appearance. Regardless, 1984 will still be filled with AHS alum, such as Cody Fern, Billie Lourd, and Emma Roberts. So stay tuned, because this is one is going to be wild.
