Will Maisie Williams or Sophie Turner Be More Successful Following ‘Game of Thrones?’

Sophie Turner and Maisie Williams have starred together on Game of Thrones since its premiere season in 2011. Turner plays the eldest daughter of Lord Eddard Stark and Lady Catelyn, Sansa, while Maisie Williams plays her younger sister Arya.

At the show’s onset, the two display clashing personalities, as Sansa strives to emulate her mother’s nature as a “proper lady,” while Arya embodies the antithesis of medieval feminity, boasting a tougher, more tomboy nature. Sansa’s personality changes drastically throughout the show, however, after her trusting nature is exploited.

The dynamic between Sansa and Arya has always been of interest, and they are two of the many characters that keep viewers coming back for more. However, while Maisie and Sophie are great friends in real life, which one will boast the more successful Hollywood career come the show’s finish? While fans hope to see both young stars grow into accomplished actors, which one has the better resume?

Let’s dive into their upcoming projects and past accomplishments to see who’s most likely to be the next Hollywood A-lister.

Sophie Turner and Maisie Williams: battle of the awards

Maisie Williams has been nominated for a Primetime Emmy and two Saturn Awards for her portrayal of Arya Stark in Game of Thrones. She was nominated for the Emmy in 2016 in the Best Supporting Actress category, and for the Saturn Award – consecutively in 2015 and 2016 – for Best Performace by a Younger Actor in a Television Series.

Maisie Williams also won the Berlin International Film Festival Award for her work in 2015’s Shooting Stars and the Evening Standard British Film Award for her performance in 2014’s The Falling (in the Most Promising Newcomer category).

On the other hand, Sophie Turner has yet to receive nominations or wins concerning commonly recognized awards for her work in Game of Thrones. Unlike Maisie Williams, she has failed to gain the prized Emmy nomination for her portrayal of Sansa Stark. However, it is important to note that Sophie Turner won the Huadling Award in 2016 for Best Global Actress of the Year, as well as the Mammoth Film Festival Award in 2018 for her performance in Josie.

While both actresses have been awarded for performances outside GoT, this category has to go to Maisie Williams on the grounds that she has received an Emmy nomination (and consecutive Saturn nominations) for her work in Game of Thrones, while Sophie Turner has not. And, what is fairer than comparing the two actors using the show they have in common?

Sophie Turner and Maisie William’s upcoming projects following ‘Game of Thrones’

Sophie Turner is set to star as Jean Grey in the highly anticipated film Dark Pheonix, coming to theaters June 7. Turner will also appear in two more films in the near future: Heavy and Broken Soldier. While filming on Broken Soldier is complete, Heavy is currently in post-production.

Broken Soldier will follow a war veteran who, suffering from PTSD, befriends a teenage girl, while Heavy is an upcoming revenge thriller focused on a couple living the high life associated with a high-end drug scene, according to Screen Daily.

In a similar fashion to Sophie Turner, Maisie William is also set to star as a mutant in The New Mutants and is currently working on a film titled The Owners, which is in pre-production.

Because Maisie Williams will only be one of several main characters represented in her upcoming blockbuster, while Sophie Turner is taking on the title role in her soon-to-be-released X-Men film, this category belongs to Sophie Turner.

Who will be more successful in the end?

In the long run, based on her acting accomplishments and award recognition, Maisie Williams will likely become the more successful Hollywood actress.

A scene from the Dark Pheonix trailer has already left fans wondering if Sophie Turner was the right choice, while Maisie Williams acting has always been adulated. Howeve, Sophie Turner has Williams beat.
