Will Marvel Studios Convince Multiple Former X-Men Actors to Reprise Their Roles in the MCU?

Following the Fox/Disney merger, rumors and leaks surrounding the X-Men and all the various ways they could make their MCU entrance began sprouting up across the internet.

From the Hulk and Wolverine mash-up idea — certified approved by the green guy himself Mark Ruffalo — to Storm’s debut in Black Panther 2 and Professor X’s appearance in Doctor Strange — as foundation-building for The Illuminati, the leaks and theories are endless. However, regardless of when and how they join, who will play the characters fans already know?

While new X-Men, possibly Magik, and less familiar faces, Juggernaut, may be making their way to the silver screen with new actors all geared up, is the MCU ready to replace the actors fans have come to know and love? What about Professor Xavier, Wolverine, Magneto, and so on? Based on some recent stories, Marvel studios may be trying to snag a few of the Fox actors for reprisals.

Patrick Stewart recently spoke with Kevin Feige regarding Professor X (it’s a no)

Patrick Stewart recently met with Kevin Feige, and revealed that the conversation did visit Professor X; however, Stewart explained that, following Logan, a reprisal would feel out of place; the film created the perfect denoument for the character and the perfect farewell for Stewart. The likelihood that he would sit back in the wheelchair to take on the beloved headmaster is unlikely. He told DigitalSpy:

Here’s the problem… If we had not made Logan, then yes, I would probably be ready to get into that wheelchair one more time and be Charles Xavier. But Logan changed all that.

Patrick Stewart goes on to explain that Logan was an emotional journey; he knew it was goodbye, and he processed this fact while watching himself on the screen, his hand clasped with Hugh Jackman’s. He has closed this chapter; however, Stewart is not the only actor from Fox’s X-Men that Marvel Studios allegedly wants back.

Marvel Studios is reportedly keeping the door open for Hugh Jackman to return as Wolverine in the MCU

We Got This Covered (WGTC) reported a while back that Marvel Studios wants Hugh Jackman to return as Wolverine, which — given the actor’s deep-seated connection to the character in fans’ minds — should come as no surprise.

Citing the Lords of the Long Box YouTube Channel, the article discussed Hugh Jackman’s return as Wolverine in a Hulk mash-up and noted that the door is open for the actor to walk right through.

Will Marvel Studios ask other former X-Men actors to reprise their characters?

Now that Kevin Feige has met with Patrick Stewart — and the studio is allegedly leaving the door open for Hugh Jackman – how many other Fox mutants are on the studio’s radar? How many other former X-Men actors will the studio try to get?

Ian McKellen is arguably equally renowned for Magneto. Will Kevin Feige meet with him next? Halle Berry is still the Storm everyone remembers; however, rumor has is that Janelle Monáe is in the running for the character. However, how about getting Famke Janssen back to play an adult Jean Grey? Until the X-Men entrances get closer, casting will remain largely unknown; however, seeing some familiar faces would be quite the treat.
