Will Meghan and Harry Take Some Time Off From Royal Duties Once Their Baby Is Born?
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are getting closer and closer to the arrival of their first child. Having a child means there is a lot to prepare for, but there is even more to deal with once the baby actually arrives. The two will be first-time parents, so those parenting techniques definitely haven’t been nailed down — they’ll need to learn the ropes for the first few months. But will the Duke and Duchess of Sussex take any time off from being royals once their baby arrives?
Meghan and Harry announced their pregnancy in October
Meghan and Harry began dating in 2016, and things have moved pretty quickly ever since. The couple only dated for about a year and a half before getting engaged, and they planned a wedding in about six months. The two had said they were excited to start a family, but nobody expected it would happen so quickly. About five months after they wed, they announced they’re expecting their first child. However, they haven’t released many details about Baby Sussex. Meghan did let it slip that her due date is in late April, but they haven’t discussed the baby’s gender or any potential names.
Meghan doesn’t have any more engagements scheduled before her due date — but that doesn’t mean she’ll stop working
Meghan recently attended her last scheduled engagement before her baby’s arrival. Although she may not be wearing heels and standing at public events for hours on end, it doesn’t mean she’s free to hang out and watch television in her cottage until the baby is born. Meghan will reportedly continue to do work behind the scenes, since royal duties keep the family very busy. She will probably be able to dress more casually and be a little more comfortable before her baby is born, but things likely won’t come to a complete halt.
Prince William and Kate Middleton both took some time off after their kids were born
In terms of whether royal parents ever take time off when their babies arrive, Will and Kate definitely do. The couple took some time for themselves after each of their three children were born. And now that they’re parents, they still take time off to spend with their kids. When George and Charlotte had winter break from school, Will and Kate took the week off to have their whole family together rather than leave them with nannies so they could work. Will and Kate always try to give their children plenty of attention and keep life as normal as possible.
Harry and Meghan will likely get some time off for their new family once Baby Sussex arrives
Harry and Meghan will probably do exactly as Will and Kate did and take some much-needed time off after welcoming their new baby. Caring for a child is something neither has ever done before, so they’ll need to spend some time getting into a normal parenting routine. Plus, Harry and Meghan don’t want to hire nannies, which means they’ll definitely need to dedicate a lot of time to their newborn. It’s unclear how much time the couple will have off, but we probably won’t see them for a little while after Baby Sussex arrives.
