Will Miley Cyrus Appear on Netflix’s ‘Black Mirror’?

Miley Cyrus recently appeared on Howard Stern’s Sirius XM Show to discuss what had been going on in her life. After discussing a new song, Saturday Night Live appearance, and some personal problems, the country star made a coy announcement concerning her acting career.

Rumors had been flying around that Cyrus would appear on the highly anticipated fifth season of Emmy-award winning television series, Black Mirror. Since she had not yet been given the go-ahead to announce her role, Cyrus instead told Stern: “If you guess it, then I will shake my head ‘yes,’ or ‘no.'” What the unofficial yet official headshake revealed was that yes, Miley Cyrus will be appearing on the next season of Black Mirror.

What is ‘Black Mirror’?

IMBD describes Black Mirror accurately as an “anthology series exploring a twisted, high-tech world where humanities greatest innovations and darkest instincts collide.” A new story and (often) set of characters are explored each season, which means that future seasons don’t have to be watched to enjoy the upcoming fifth.

Among other awards, the show has received an astonishing six primetime Emmys since its creation in 2011. Many liken it to the other popular Netflix television series, Stranger Things. Both are among the number of television series released exclusively to Netflix.

What else do we know about the fifth season?

Unconfirmed rumors say that the fifth season will include at least one choose-your-own-adventure show. Although Netflix has declined comment on whether this is true, many fans are hoping it is. The idea of dictating your own story is appealing, as can anyone who read RL Stine’s books of the same general premise.

Another rumor states this series will not stand on its own. Instead, some say it will be a continuation of several stories from previous stories intertwined with a few new ones.

In fact, the streaming service turned production company has been very tight-lipped about the upcoming fifth season and has not even officially released a title, release date, or casting list as of yet. This is despite many fans (and experts) having good reason to believe the next season will air soon. It is about that time, after all.

When will the fifth season of ‘Black Mirror’ be released?

Although Netflix has not yet officially announced when the fifth season will be released for fans to view, there was an “uh-oh” moment via Twitter. While nobody can say for certain whether it is real or a hoax, a tweet went out that revealed both the fifth season’s title and its release date. The tweet was almost immediately deleted, however, and Netflix (as usual) is refusing to comment on whether the information was accurate.

If the tweet is to be believed, the fifth season will be titled Black Mirror: Bandersnatch. The tweet also stated the air date would be December 28th. Again, this was not confirmed, so fans shouldn’t get their hopes up too high. There are also rumors that the title belongs to a movie and not the fifth season, but only time will tell which rumor is accurate.

So, what does the future hold for Cyrus? The actress and daughter of country legend Billy Ray Cyrus just announced her wedding to Liam Hemsworth after dating for three years. On the acting horizon, however, there hasn’t been any word on what she will be working on after Black Mirror. This comes as no surprise, considering Cyrus’ love of… well, surprise. If there is anything else in the works, fans may not hear about it until last second, so stay tuned.
