Will Prince William and Kate Middleton Spend Christmas with Queen Elizabeth After Meghan and Harry Snub?

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are not spending Christmas with Queen Elizabeth at Sandringham this year, but will Prince William and Kate Middleton follow their lead? William and Kate have not always celebrated the holidays with Her Majesty and sometimes spend Christmas with her side of the family. With their Christmas plans still not confirmed, royal experts believe the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge snub Queen Elizabeth as well.

Prince William and Kate Middleton skip Sandringham

William and Kate have skipped Christmas at Sandringham on at least two occasions, spending the holidays at her family’s home in Bucklebury instead.

In 2012, for instance, the couple spent Christmas with Kate’s parents, despite her being pregnant with their first child, Prince George. They did the same thing when Princess Charlotte was a baby.

There is no doubt that Prince William and Kate Middleton will be spending future holiday seasons with her side of the family, and it is completely normal for members of the royal family to spend the holidays elsewhere.

But this year is a little different for the royals, who have experienced quite a few scandals in recent months. And the Cambridges skipping Christmas at Sandringham is probably not what Queen Elizabeth needs at the moment.

What are Prince William and Kate Middleton’s Christmas plans?

Despite all of the reports surrounding Christmas this year, Prince William and the Duchess of Cambridge have not confirmed their holiday plans. According to Express, royal experts believe there is a chance the couple skips Sandringham and goes to Bucklebury instead.

“There is a possibility, obviously, they could choose to spend it with the Middletons as well,” expert Brittani Barge shared. “There’s a chance we won’t see either the Sussexes or the Cambridges at Christmas this year with the Royal Family, which is totally fine.”

Buckingham Palace also released a statement on the matter, saying they do not confirm which members of the royal family will be at Sandringham in a given year. This is likely for safety and security reasons, but it, unfortunately, means we will not know more until we get closer to Christmas.

That said, Prince Louis has yet to spend Christmas with Kate’s family, so this could be the year they bring him to the Middletons, who are no doubt waiting to spend their first Christmas with the little guy.

If Prince William and Kate Middleton decide to skip out on Sandringham this year, they will not be the only couple who will not be opening presents with Queen Elizabeth on Christmas Eve.

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle will spend Christmas in Los Angeles

While we wait to learn more about Prince William and Kate Middleton, Harry and Meghan have confirmed that they will not be spending Christmas with Queen Elizabeth and the rest of the royal family.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex will be spending the holidays with Meghan’s mother, Dorian Ragland, who lives in Los Angeles. The couple will be flying out to California for Thanksgiving and staying for Christmas.

Buckingham Palace recently released a statement confirming that Harry and Meghan will not be at Sandringham this year. It is unclear if the pair will be making any public appearances during their visit to America.

Although the news has stirred up a lot of controversy, this will be the first time Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have spent Christmas away from the royal family. The two have stayed at Sandringham for the past two years.

Why are Prince Harry and Meghan Markle skipping Sandringham?

Harry and Meghan have not said why they are skipping out on Sandringham. Other than spending the holidays with her side of the family for once, royal experts believe the couple is looking forward to a break from the British press.

The Sussexes have been very open about their struggles with the media in recent months. They have even opened a lawsuit against several British tabloids for publishing personal letters.

While Harry and Meghan have a perfectly good excuse to visit her mom, there is little doubt that they will enjoy their break from royal duties. They are also bringing along their son, Archie Harrison, marking his first trip to America.

The trip to Los Angeles, of course, has also sparked rumors that they are thinking about moving to the area — though that has yet to be confirmed.

Hopefully, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle will be able to reboot during their stay in California and will get back in the swing of things in the new year.

Prince William and Kate Middleton have not commented on Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s holiday plans.
