Inside Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s life outside of the royal family

After announcing their departure in January, Harry and Meghan have kept out of the spotlight. That changed in February when the Duke and Duchess of Sussex attended a summit in Miami.

The event was Harry and Meghan’s first engagement since they announced their exit. Harry spoke at the summit and was reportedly paid handsomely for his attendance.

As part of their exit plan – which was announced by Queen Elizabeth – Harry and Meghan plan on becoming financially free of the monarchy. Exactly how they achieve that freedom is yet to be seen, but it looks like booking corporate events could be one way they earn money.

The two have been staying in Canada for several weeks, though it is unclear where they are headed next. There has been a lot of talk about them buying a house in Los Angeles, but nothing official has been confirmed.

We do know, however, that Harry and Meghan plan on splitting their time between the UK and North America. But before they set down roots in another country, Queen Elizabeth reportedly wants them to return to the UK.

Queen Elizabeth wants Harry and Meghan to attend this event

While Harry and Meghan have been enjoying their time away from the royal spotlight, sources say that Queen Elizabeth wants to bring them back to the UK next month.

According to Express, Her Majesty has asked Harry and Meghan to come back home for the Commonwealth Service at the beginning of March. The event is held on an annual basis inside Westminster Abbey.

Leaders from commonwealth nations, like Canada, attend the event, which makes it an ideal engagement for Harry and Meghan. The two have not confirmed that they will return home for the event, but they are expected to make an appearance.

If they do go to the event, they will likely rub elbows with Prince William and Kate Middleton, who are also expected to be at the engagement. The appearance would also likely be their last before Megxit becomes official.

What about Princess Beatrice’s wedding?

Aside from the Commonwealth Service, there is another royal event that Harry and Meghan might attend in the near future. Princess Beatrice is set to exchange vows with Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi on May 29, and there is a strong possibility that Harry and Meghan will be invited to the event.

Beatrice and Mozzi are having the wedding inside Chapel Royal, and the reception is going to take at Buckingham Palace. Queen Elizabeth has confirmed that she will attend the reception.

Harry and Meghan have not said anything about Beatrice’s wedding, but it is possible that their son, Archie Harrison, plays a small role in the ceremony.

The palace recently confirmed Beatrice’s upcoming nuptials, noting that the reception will be a private event in the gardens of Queen Elizabeth’s main home Buckingham Palace.

Prince Harry opens up about Megxit

Although the Duke and Duchess of Sussex have been staying low-key in recent weeks, Harry reportedly spoke about his decision to leave the royal family at the summit in Miami.

Harry allegedly revealed that Megxit has been very difficult for him and Meghan, though he does not regret the decision to step away from the royal family. At the end of the day, Harry does not want his son to grow up in that kind of environment.

Insiders also claim that Harry revealed that he is still dealing with losing his mother, Princess Diana, and has been going to therapy to help deal with mental issues.

“Harry spoke about mental health and how he has been in therapy for the past few years to try to overcome the trauma of losing his mother,” a source shared. “He talked about how the events of his childhood affected him and that he has been talking to a mental health professional.”

Megxit is expected to become official this spring. Because they are stepping down as senior members of the royal family, Harry and Meghan will be losing their HRH titles, according to the official announcement from Queen Elizabeth. They are also expected to pay back the money that was used to renovate Frogmore Cottage.
