Will Shane Dawson Quit YouTube, Following Jenna Marbles’ Exit From the Platform?

Following accusations from Tati Westbrook, lewd videos, and YouTube demonetizing Shane Dawson’s channel, some fans are calling for the content creator to stop posting videos. Here’s what viewers are saying following Tati Westbrook’s “Breaking My Silence” video.

Jenna Marbles posted an apology video for her earlier, controversial content

Prompted by the Black Lives Matter movement, some fans asked YouTuber Jenna Marbles to address some of her past videos. The YouTuber posted an apology, titled “A Message,” where she shared some of her regrets from the past. She even said she would be taking a step back from creating content.

“I’m just a person trying to navigate the world the same way that you are. I don’t always know what’s right and what wrong, what the truth is,” Jenna Marbles concluded. “I’m just trying my best.”

“As someone clearly with their own past that they’re not proud of, I do just try to see people for they are right now, today, and that they’re not defined by their pasts, and I understand,” she continued. “I’m trying to do the same thing that you are and support and be friends with people that I’m proud of and that I love, and just know that I’m doing my best.”

Shane Dawson, inspired by Jenna Marbles, posted his own ‘taking accountability’ video

Another YouTuber with controversial past videos is Shane Dawson, who has recently been accused of blackface, pedophilia jokes, and using racial slurs. He addressed all of this in a video titled, “Taking Accountability.” However, prompted by a lewd video of Shane Dawson in front of then-11-year-old, Willow Smith, Jaden and Jada Smith both condemned his actions on Twitter.

As a result, videos on all three of Shane Dawson’s YouTube Channels were demonetized. (That means he can’t make money off of his videos anymore.) Within a few days, Tati Westbrook posted a video, sharing another side of the story from her feud with James Charles.

She explained that it was actually Jeffree Star and Shane Dawson who coerced her into creating the “Bye Sister” video. Shane Dawson took to Twitter and Instagram Live immediately, although both posts have since been deleted.

With Shane Dawson quit YouTube following his demonetization?

There’s no word regarding if, or when, Shane Dawson will take a step back from YouTube, as the comedian recently announced that he’s working on a horror film. Still, some fans are asking him to comment on the situation, while others just want him “canceled.”

“Shane Dawson when Tati made a video about James: ‘she got her ring light and popped off!! Served James a big slice of humble pie!’ Shane Dawson when Tati makes a video about him and Jeffree: ‘that is fake crying, you are a manipulator,'” one Twitter user noted.

“The fact that Shane Dawson was so quick to call Tati a manipulative liar but it was crickets from both him and Ryland when the Smith family called him out,” another Twitter user said.

Based on his initial reaction, though, some fans suspect Shane Dawson to post a video responding within the next few days. Until then, videos by Shane Dawson and Jenna Marbles can be found on their respective channels.
