Nostalgia is a powerful thing. MTV’s rebooted version of its mid-2000s reality TV sensation The Hills premiered in late June, with many original cast members returning to hash out old grievances and stir up new drama. And viewers were eager to see what Spencer and Heidi Pratt, Audrina Patridge, and the rest of the cast were up to now. The first episode of The Hills: New Beginnings was the second-most-watched cable series premiere of 2019 among adults 18-34, according to the Wrap.
MTV has renewed ‘The Hills: New Beginnings’ for Season 2
While The Hills: New Beginnings hasn’t yet finished its first-season run, MTV has already committed to a second season. The network made the announcement July 22, but didn’t reveal when season 2 would premiere or which cast members might return.
Audrina Patridge, Stephanie Pratt, Spencer Pratt, Heidi Pratt, Justin “Bobby” Brescia, Brody Jenner, Whitney Port, Frankie Delgado, and Jason Wahler from the original series all came back for the reboot. However, stars Lauren Conrad and Kristin Cavallari both opted not to participate. Newcomers included The O.C.’s Mischa Barton and Brandon Thomas Lee, the son of rocker Tommy Lee and Pamela Anderson.
However, it seems that not all of those cast members will be returning for the show’s second season.
Stephanie Pratt won’t be back for Season 2
Stephanie Pratt revealed on July 24 that she was done with The Hills: New Beginnings.
Pratt unloaded in a juicy, drama-filled post on Instagram, where she said she was “so happy to be back home in London, where evil siblings don’t exist.”
The reality star went on bash her estranged brother Spencer, who she said often “screamed” at her. But her real ire was reserved for her sister-in-law Montag, with whom she’s been feuding for years.
“omg and Heidi- I have no words for how evil you truly are- you had no choice to admit all of the lies you’ve been spewing about me was for a magazine cover 🙈 and for real WE ALL KNOW WHAT YOU DID 10 years ago,” she wrote, referring to her claim that it was Montag, not her brother, who started the 2007 rumor that Conrad had made a sex tape with Wahler. “You awful human being- and to your BEST FRIEND? You are truly a hideous person.”
Pratt also took aim at Patridge, who she called “crazy” for thinking she hooked up with Brescia. “[A]ll the months you spent trying to get all of the girls against me… I mean thats Speidi’s job!!!” Pratt wrote. She also said Brescia was her “rock” during filming.
All the drama naturally had fans wondering about Pratt’s future on the show. When a fan asked “OMG are you on season 2??” Pratt had a simple response: “no.”
The Hills: New Beginnings airs Mondays at 9/8c on MTV.
