Will Whitney Port’s Son Appear On ‘The Hills: New Beginnings’?

After The Hills ended its original run back in 2010, many of the cast members have since experienced their own life changes.

Aside from their different career moves, a majority of the cast have welcomed children over the years and have fully embraced parenthood.

Now that the cast is back with their new spin-off series, The Hills: New Beginnings, showcasing their lives as parents on-screen is something not everyone wants to do, especially Whitney Port.

Motherhood is not the central focus on the show

When it comes to motherhood, Whitney Port likes keeping that part of her life separate from her career as a reality television star.

Since welcoming her son, Sonny Sanford Rosenman, back in 2017, Port has been able to find a healthy balance between her duties as a mother and her career as a fashion designer and author.

So far, Port has been able to make time for both but now that she is back on television, the reality star is finding new ways to make sure she continues being a hands-on mother to her son all while filming for The Hills: New Beginnings.

Though Spencer and Heidi Pratt are including their young son, Gunner, in the filming process, Whitney Port does not want her life as a mom showcased on the series.

“There are a couple of us that were used to working already and leaving our babies, so our babies aren’t necessarily on it, but I think you see a little bit of the struggle of people separating from their babies. But, for me, being a mom isn’t necessarily highlighted on the show. It’s more about how the group dynamics work,” Port shared with AOL’s Gibson Johns.

The reality star revealed that her 22-month-old son will most likely not be featured on The Hills: New Beginnings, mainly because the show’s creators want to focus on the group’s social dynamics rather than their parenting lifestyles.

“MTV already has ’16 and Pregnant’ and [viewers] see mom life there, so I think people want to see us in a social atmosphere,” Port said. “They can see us do our mom life on social media, and you don’t need to watch that on TV.”

Port is worried about not being a present mom

Though Whitney Port is excited to return to the show that has opened so many doors for her over the years, the reality star is worried she’ll be too busy to spend time with her son.

While Port said that she “won’t really be a big part of the show,” she still feels guilty that her job is hindering her from spending quality time with Sonny.

“When I have to go film or go on work trips, it’s a tug at my heart. Sometimes I’m like, ‘Is this worthwhile?’ Because it’s a choice that I made to do the show,” Port explained.

Even though it is hard for any mother to be away from their child for long periods of time, Whitney Port knows that doing the spin-off series will open more doors for her and her family.

“I had a career besides that that was keeping me busy, but doing the show was a choice, so I still do question it sometimes. It’s like, “Did I choose to film a reality show instead of being a present mom?’” she said. “I looked at it as more of an opportunity to do more of things, and I knew how much power the past show had to allow me to fulfill so many dreams and goals that I hoped this would do the same.”

While Port is certain her son will not appear on The Hills: New Beginnings, the reality star is expecting to talk about the ups and downs of motherhood on the show.
