Would a Wedding for Princess Beatrice Cause a Rift Between Her and Princess Eugenie?

The royals have been in the news more than ever before thanks to Prince Harry and his historic wife, Meghan Markle. And fans can’t get enough of the couple’s baby, Archie, either. But long before Meghan and Prince Harry (or even Prince William and Kate Middleton), there was another royal couple who had everyone talking: Sarah Ferguson and Prince Andrew.

Ferguson and Prince Andrew couldn’t stay out of the tabloids thanks to their quick love affair and dramatic divorce. And the two have two daughters — Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie — who are now taking over the spotlight, too. While Princess Eugenie has been married to Jack Brooksbank for almost a year, fans are wondering when Princess Beatrice will tie the knot with her boyfriend. And if the princess is preparing for an engagement, could another royal wedding possibly cause a rift between her and her sister? Here’s what’s being said.

Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie are very close friends

There are plenty of royal family members who certainly aren’t best friends, but Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie are not among them. The sisters have been in the royal spotlight ever since they were born and are roughly two years apart in age. And they’ve both discussed how close they were growing up and how their bond is still super strong well into adulthood.

Back in 2008, Princess Eugenie even spoke to The Telegraph about her bond with her sister. “We get on fantastically well, perhaps because we do and think different things,” she said. She also added that she’s quite different than her sister. “I am definitely not as polite as Beatrice [her older sister, Princess Beatrice of York], I have to say. I tell it as it is,” Princess Eugenie added. But even with their differences (and occasional quarrels that all sisters have), they’ve proven to be the best of friends. “Mummy, Bea and I call ourselves ‘the Tripod’ – they are my best friends in the world,” the princess said.

Princess Beatrice is allegedly very in love with her boyfriend

Princess Eugenie may have married in 2018, but it looks like Princess Beatrice may not be too far behind. Town & Country reports Princess Beatrice has been seeing Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi for months — and the two have even started stepping out in public together. Mozzi allegedly knew the princess’ family for years before they started dating, and he’s also quite a big deal himself. He’s inherited multi-millions and co-founded his own charity. Mozzie has a young son of his own as well.

As far as Princess Beatrice’s relationship with Mozzi goes, they seem to be on the fast track to marriage. As an insider told People, “She’s completely head over heels.” We can’t forget that Princess Beatrice was once in a very serious and long-lasting relationship that ended not long ago. She certainly seems ready for commitment, so we’ll have to wait and see what comes of her current relationship.

Would her wedding cause a rift between the sisters?

So, if Princess Beatrice did tie the knot with Mozzi, would a royal feud between her and her sister ensue? Express notes there’s been plenty of speculation regarding a possible rift between Prince Harry and Prince William since Meghan Markle entered the picture. But when it comes to the princesses, it seems experts believe a wedding for Princess Beatrice would have little to no impact on their tight friendship.

“Say what you like about the Yorks, they are an extremely close-knit family,” royal expert Robert Fitzwilliams told the publication. “They are certain to remain so. If Beatrice marries Edoardo, expect Eugenie to be Maid of Honour, as she was when Eugenie married Jack Brooksbank last year. The sisters have always been inseparable with supportive parents. I would expect that to be lifelong.”

Fans of the princesses should be able to breathe a sigh of relief, then. And we can’t wait to see what the future holds for Princess Beatrice, too!
