Would Kaley Cuoco Partake in a ‘The Big Bang Theory’ Reboot?

The Big Bang Theory just wrapped, after twelve seasons of humor and heartwarming moments. The cast, including stars Jim Parsons, Johnny Galecki, Simon Helberg, and Kaley Cuoco, have had to say goodbye to characters that they have been portraying since 2007.

Although the final season might have been emotional for the cast as well as thousands of fans, there’s still hope for viewers to see some of their favorite characters again. Recently, Kaley Cuoco sat down to discuss the possibility of a The Big Bang Theory reboot and whether or not she would be up for appearing in it.

How popular was ‘The Big Bang Theory’?

When it first premiered in 2007, there was nothing else on television quite like The Big Bang Theory. The show centered around a group of science nerds, many of whom taught together at the same university, and their misadventures with love, work, and social encounters.

Also central to the character’s dynamic was Penny, the attractive blonde neighbor who ended up starting a romance with Leonard Hofstadter, played by former child actor Johnny Galecki.

Kaley Cuoco was perfectly cast as Penny, and her impeccable sense of comedic timing and relatable attitude (not to mention her California-girl good looks) helped to draw viewers to the show week after week. Penny was also one of the characters that fans felt closest to – after all, most of the other characters on the show were geniuses or high-level scientists.

Penny was just an average girl who happened to be friends with some extraordinary people, and throughout the course of twelve seasons, fans watched her struggle with problems that most people face – bills, difficult family members, an uncertain career path, and relationship problems. It’s no wonder that Kaley Cuoco became one of the most popular actresses on television, thanks to The Big Bang Theory

How did the cast handle the final season?

After working together for twelve years, it makes sense that the cast would feel tremendous sadness about the show drawing to an end. When the final episode of The Big Bang Theory aired in May 2019, the cast shared many pictures and memories to social media, letting fans know just how bittersweet the finale really was.

Kaley Cuoco was one of the stars most affected by the ending of the show. She admitted that the show was a “beautiful chapter” that was coming to an end and that her time on The Big Bang Theory couldn’t be better

Would Kaley Cuoco play Penny again?

Although The Big Bang Theory is no more, Cuoco has said that she would be game for a reboot.

There hasn’t been any sort of official announcement regarding a series reboot or spinoff but in a recent interview with Fox News, she said that if showrunner Chuck Lorre (also responsible for hits like Two and a Half Men) were to call her and invite her to take part in a reboot series, she would be up for it.

“I would do anything for Chuck,” Cuoco said, admitting that she owes her career to being cast as Penny. Cuoco also said that she can’t imagine where she would be at in her life if not for the opportunity with The Big Bang Theory coming along when it did.

In the meantime, Cuoco is staying busy – she’s currently working on travel-based series for YouTube, a long time passion project of hers. She’s also enjoying a happy personal life, having gotten married in June 2018 to equestrian Karl Cook.

Whether or not Cuoco does end up returning to the role of Penny Hofstadter, it’s certain that her fans will be supporting her every step of the way.
