Would Princess Diana Have Really Been Appalled By Meghan Markle?

When Prince Harry and Meghan Markle had their engagement interview, the prince made a point of saying how his future bride and his late mother, Princess Diana, would have been “thick as thieves.” It is heartbreaking to know that Duchess Meghan never got to meet her mother-in-law — the woman who made such an impact on everyone that she came in contact with that her death was mourned by billions around the world.

Princess Diana truly adored both of her sons, and we are certain that she wanted nothing more than to see them happy. It was evident as to just how much Prince William and Prince Harry loved Princess Diana when we saw them walking with devasted looks behind her casket at her funeral over 20 years ago. Little did Prince Harry know that his future wife, Markle, was watching the event from overseas with tears streaming down her face.

We know that Prince Harry feels that his mother and Markle would have had a close relationship. So, why are there reports stating that Princess Diana would have been appalled by the duchess?

Meghan Markle had to get to know the ins and outs of royal life

When Duchess Meghan and Prince Harry announced that they were in a serious relationship, there is no doubt that Markle had a lot to learn. Royal life is complicated, and it is a far cry from the celebrity life that Markle was used to.

In fact, according to Her, the duchess actually had to undergo training before marrying Prince Harry, as there is a long list of rules and protocol that royals are expected to follow. She had to learn how to act a certain way, and present herself as a representative of the royal family in a way that is approved by the queen. Although she made some minor errors along the way, such as closing her own car door while on a royal engagement, many people really thought that the Duchess of Sussex had come pretty far.

Meghan Markle has many similarities to Princess Diana

Although they never crossed paths, Markle has a lot in common with Prince Harry’s mom. Both of them tend to be rule-breakers and are adamant about doing things their own way. According to 10 Daily, Markle has an interest in a lot of the causes that Princess Diana was passionate about, and has been involved long before ever joining the royal family.

Princess Diana was dedicated to charity work, as is Duchess Meghan, and humanitarian work is just as important to Markle as it was to Princess Diana. In addition, they both came under heavy media scrutiny when they joined the royal family. The Duchess of Sussex is scrutinized relentlessly, and Metro reports that she has been called a “social climber” on more than one occasion.

In addition, she was given some unflattering nicknames, such as “Me-Gain.” Princess Diana came under fire due to her unique approach to carrying out her royal duties, as well as her tense relationships with the other members of the royal family.

With all of the similarities that the two share, we have to wonder why some are saying that Princess Diana would have been appalled by Markle. According to International Business Times, the Duchess of Sussex acts more like a celebrity than she does a member of the royal family. She’s been criticized for her desire for privacy, when she is, in fact, a public figure, and a source says that Markle is not only “graceless” at times, but doesn’t really know what it means to be a royal.

As a result, the source says that Princess Diana would indeed be “appalled.” While some may feel that Princess Diana would be devastated by Prince Harry and Markle, we have to say that they complement each other perfectly, and will always be one of our favorite royal couples.
