The ‘Write Before Christmas’ Cast Features a ‘One Tree Hill’ Reunion

The holiday season is finally here. And you know what that means — it’s time to celebrate love with Hallmark Channel’s Countdown to Christmas. This November, the network is premiering an all-new feature called Write Before Christmas, which includes a One Tree Hill cast reunion between Chad Michael Murray and Torrey DeVitto, who play Luke and Jessica respectively. So basically, this is one you don’t want to miss.

Hallmark Channel’s ‘Write Before Christmas’ air date and time

According to the Hallmark Channel website, Write Before Christmas will be released on Sunday, Nov. 17. The film will also start airing at 8 p.m. ET.

Now, if you happen to miss the premiere of Write Before Christmas on Nov. 17, don’t fret. Hallmark Channel will release the movie again, with the first rerun on Wednesday, Nov. 20, at 8 p.m. ET.

What is ‘Write Before Christmas’ about?

From the looks of the Write Before Christmas synopsis, the Hallmark Channel movie will be a lighthearted tale about falling in love during the holiday season. The story follows Jessica (DeVitto), who isn’t having much luck in the romance department. When her boyfriend breaks up with her two weeks before Christmas, Jessica decides to take a break from dating. But as always, love finds a way.

Jessica sends five cards to people who have changed her life in a positive way. And it seems each of her cards “sets off a chain reaction of undeniable love.” As a result, something sparks within Jessica’s Aunt Lila (Lolita Davidovich) and her neighbor crush (Grant Show), her brother in the military, and Jax (Drew Seely), a forgotten ’90s boy band member who is having troubles writing new music.

The fifth and final card is meant to go to Jessica’s childhood music teacher. However, it isn’t Jessica’s music teacher who receives the letter — it’s her son, Luke (Murray). When Luke reads his mother Jessica’s card, she is touched and tells her son to give Jessica one of her vintage cellos. And right on cue, Luke and Jessica hit it off. But what does fate have in store for the couple? Only time will tell.

‘One Tree Hill’ stars Torrey DeVitto and Chad Michael Murray play Jessica and Luke in the ‘Write Before Christmas’ cast

As it turns out, the Write Before Christmas cast includes a number of familiar faces, even in the supporting cast. Jessica’s aunt Lila is played by Davidovich, who is known for starring in 2003’s Hollywood Homicide as Cleo Ricard and 1989’s Blaze as Blaze Starr. Lila’s love interest, Tom, is played by Show, who portrayed Jake Hanson on Melrose Place and currently stars in Dynasty as Blake Carrington. You may also recognize Seely, who plays Jax, from his roles as Joey Parker on Another Cinderella Story, opposite Selena Gomez, and the original singing voice of High School Musical‘s Troy Bolton.

Meanwhile, the two Write Before Christmas leads are both One Tree Hill alums. Murray, who plays Luke, was once the alter ego of Lucas Scott on the WB series. He is also known for his roles on Freaky Friday and A Cinderella Story, opposite Hilary Duff. And more recently, Murray stars as Edgar Evernever on Riverdale.

On the other hand, DeVitto, who plays Jessica, has had quite the acting career since she left One Tree Hill as Nanny Carrie. DeVitto continued to show up in television, nabbing roles like Dr. Meredith Fell on The Vampire Diaries, Maggie Hall on Army Wives, and Melissa Hastings on Pretty Little Liars. She now plays Natalie Manning in Chicago Med.

On Nov. 15, DeVitto spoke with Parade about Write Before Christmas and touched on her thoughts about the Hallmark Film. The actress also seems excited to be onscreen with Murray once again — and to have the opportunity to play the cello in real-life.

“[Jessica] plays cello in the film, which I was so excited to do, and then in pops in Mr. Chad Michael Murray, and they have this thing that develops, and it’s an interesting ride,” DeVitto said. “I was so excited to pick up the cello, because I’m already a violinist, and also working with Chad because he and I did One Tree Hill together, so that was a lot of fun.”
