You Can Hear Taylor Swift’s First Re-Record in This Ryan Reynolds Commercial
It’s a re-record. Baby, just say yes. Taylor Swift is on a mission to get her re-recorded albums out to fans soon, but they’ll be delighted to learn that the first snippet of the first re-record can now be heard in Ryan Reynolds’ latest ad from production company Maximum Effort.
Taylor Swift let Ryan Reynolds use a clip of the re-recorded ‘Love Story’
On Dec. 2, Reynolds debuted the commercial Maximum Effort made for Match.com, which featured Satan matching with 2020.
“A match made in hell is still a @match,” he tweeted. “Latest work from @MaximumEffort #2020LoveStory.”
In the ad, a lonely Satan sits upon his hellish throne when he gets a notification from the dating service. He meets up with 2020 in Central Park, and they spend the rest of the ad taking in the glee of the hell that has been this year.
“So, where are you from?” 2020 asks.
“Hell,” the devil responds.
“Me too,” she quips back.
The match made in hell then goes to the gym together, has a picnic in an empty football stadium, steals a bunch of toilet paper, and takes selfies in front of a literal dumpster fire. It’s one big metaphor for 2020, but the icing on the cake is the song playing throughout the ad: Swift’s re-recorded “Love Story.”
Swift is re-recording her first six albums
The ad marks the first time fans can hear one of the star’s highly anticipated re-recorded songs. The 30-year-old announced earlier this year that she would be remaking her first six studio albums in response to Scooter Braun owning (and recently selling) her masters. Re-recording her work is the only way for her to have ownership of the songs once again, and fans are eagerly awaiting for the impending release.
Swift tweeted about Reynolds’ ad, assuring that the albums aren’t done yet.
“Okay so while my new re-records are NOT done, my friend @VancityReynolds asked me if he could use a snippet of one for a LOLsome commercial he wrote,” she tweeted. “So…here’s a sneak peak of Love Story! Working hard to get the music to you soon!!”
Fans are properly freaking out over ‘Love Story’ 2020
Swifties can’t get enough of the hilarious ad and the new version of “Love Story.”
“LOVE STORY 2020 THIS IS NOT A DRILL,” one fan wrote.
Wrote another, “LOVE STORY 2020 isn’t just a rerecording, it’s a lifestyle, a reason to breathe, an escape from this cruel world filled with thieves. it’s art, the first gift you open on christmas, a hug from a loved one, everything you’ve ever wanted, everything you’ve ever needed.”
“‘Working hard to get the music to you soon’ ma’am we love you stay hydrated,” joked another.
One thing’s for sure, if there’s anything that could make Swift’s fans feel better in 2020, it would be the release of all six of her re-recorded albums.
