Season 2 of ‘Euphoria’ is already in the works

Released in 2019, this drama series became HBO’s youngest-skewing original series, touching on subjects like drug addiction, abortion, and abusive relationships. Spider-Man: Far From Home actress, Zendaya, portrayed one of the lead characters in this series, a teenager named Rue.

Throughout season 1, viewers learned about life through Rue’s eyes and how she sees her classmates, Jules (Hunter Schafer,) Maddy (Alexa Demie,) and Nate Jacobs (Jacob Elordi.) HBO then renewed Euphoria for its second season.

Euphoria creator Sam Levinson has built an incredible world with an extraordinary cast led by the supremely talented Zendaya,” Francesca Orsi, EVP, HBO Programming, said in a statement. “We are so grateful that he chose HBO as the home for this groundbreaking series. We look forward to following these complex characters as their journeys continue through the challenging world they inhabit.”

Thanks to a post from Twitter, fans have even more clues about upcoming episodes of this drama series

Is Rue dead? Will she get back together with Jules? What will happen Fez? The finale of Euphoria season 1 left many unanswered questions for fans. Although there is no official premiere date for season 2, fans learned that the cast already had their first table reading.

Pictures shared Zendaya with the name “Rue” in front of her. Sitting beside her was Angus Cloud, who portrays Fez. So, it’s pretty much confirmed Zendaya will reprise her iconic role. In fact, after HBO renewed the series for its second season, the actress took to social media, sharing the news with her fans.

“Literally just got the call. Can’t say thank you enough for the support we’ve seen, wow…” tweeted Zendaya. Production has since halted on season 2, due to coronavirus. The cast and crew will presumably continue working on this series within the next few weeks.

Zendaya will appear as Rue for season 2 of ‘Euphoria’

The next chapter of Rue’s story reportedly begins sometime during 2020. In the meantime, fans are counting down the days until new episodes debut. Even Zendaya shared her love for this drama series. Since appearing as Rue, Zendaya commented on the impact Euphoria had on her as an actress.

“I think Euphoria taught me a lot about myself. It made me more confident in my own abilities because I doubted myself a lot.” Zendaya said, during an interview with Elle from 2019.

“I was looking for something to prove I can do it,” she said. “Euphoria served as that, in the healthiest way. I never want to plateau as an actress—I always want to be able to explore and push myself. [Being an actress] brings me to places and makes me do things I’d probably never do because I’m such an introverted person.”

Season 2 of Euphoria premieres sometime during 2020. Until then, fans can binge-watch the first season on the streaming platform, HBO Go.
