We know that shopping for shoes and accessories is more fun than buying trousers. Going through the racks can be intimidating. There are so many types of pants that it can be difficult to add new styles to your wardrobe. Let alone choose different ones that go with the current season. The good news is that we have rounded up a few trouser styles you should consider wearing when the weather gets colder.

Corduroy pants are back, but with a modern upgrade. Spotted on fall-winter 2015 fashion shows by designers such as Burberry, Marc Jacobs, Bottega Veneta, and Boglioli. The new version of cords are more fitted, you can wear them to work, and they’re available in a variety of colors and styles such as joggers. Corduroy trousers work two ways: They keep you warm and add texture to your fall wardrobe.

Twill chinos

Chinos are the pants to get! They are more versatile than jeans — you can dress them up or down — and mix and match with a variety of pieces already available in your closet. Start your search with brands that are known for providing great options such as John Lewis, Hackett, J.Crew, Ralph Lauren, Reiss, and H&M for budget friendly chinos. You can wear them in neutral colors such as grey and navy or in a bold color like red. For a casual style, a slim-fitting pair works great with a sweater and luxe sneakers. For a more formal occasion or work, opt for chinos in grey or navy style them with a crisp white shirt and a blazer. Add a pocket square or light scarf for a slick look.

Wool trousers are perfect for transitional weather. They’re cool enough to wear during the day, but will still keep you warm in the evening. You can pair them with other tailored separates for work or dressed them down with a simple t-shirt. Test the waters with classic colors such as navy, brown, or grey to see if they go with your style. Then add color or pattern styles if you like them. For off-duty style, wear wool trousers with a tee and desert boots.

Relaxed-legged jeans and trousers

After years of skinny jeans, menswear is heading into a more relaxed direction. Trousers are fuller with a loose fit. That doesn’t mean dragging your pants under your shoes, wearing bell bottoms, or that Hammer pants are back. The modern version fits slim and the leg stops before the top of your shoes. Where do you find them? Brands like Acne Studios, Raf Simons, Bally, and Givenchy are a great starting point. Wear yours with form-fitting shirts and sneakers.

Will you be adding any of these trouser styles to your wardrobe this season?
