Skateboarder turned newbie designer and founder of labels Bianca Chandôn and Call Me 917 — Olson’s designs are inspired by the club culture of the ’70s and ’80s. He brought awareness and aspects of the LGBT world into the worlds of skate and streetwear. “Fashion and skateboarding are fickle subcultures based on style and the way you look,” explains Olson. “They are constantly changing, and they are both about looking for the next best thing. If something is popular, they are going to go in the opposite direction to create something new and exciting. In that way, they are very similar worlds.”
Run and created by Brothers Alex and Matthew Orley as well as Matthew’s wife, Samantha the brand is known for their bold use of color and creative infusion of knits.
