There are very few things that look as good on a man as a well-tailored Italian suit, except maybe for shoes, accessories, shirts, and pretty much anything else designed or made by Italians. As a culture, the Italians know how to do everything right: food, wine, art, and, of course, fashion. Here are six stylish brands that embody everything it means to be “made in Italy.”
1. Giorgio Armani
Giorgio Armani makes some of the finest suits on the planet. Wearing anything from the Armani collection automatically makes every man look dapper and more sophisticated.
Made of silk and wool, Armani’s Wall Street Suit is a stunning classic. It was designed to be comfortable to move around in and soft to the touch, so the man wears the suit instead of the suit wearing the man. This a very smart philosophy.
A favorite of actor George Clooney, Armani is also known for its tuxedos. While wearing one doesn’t promise you will attract a lady as beautiful as Amal, it will get you tons of compliments.
Versace is probably one of the first brands that comes to mind when you think of Italian fashion. Known for its bold designs, the brand was founded in 1978 by Gianni Versace, who was tragically murdered in 1997. Now run by his infamous sister Donatella, who has continued in her brother’s tradition, its menswear (and everything else it makes) isn’t to be missed.
In addition to haute couture, Versace has very unique street-inspired casualwear. One of its coolest items this season is this signature Medusa logo sweatshirt. Wear it with a pair of signature pair of jeans.
3. Roberto Cavalli
Roberto Cavalli designs clothing for the man who wants to stand out and do it loudly. Take this snakeskin blazer for example. You cannot walk into a room and not have everyone notice you wearing this jacket. If you prefer a more casual look, this 100% lambskin leather bomber jacket with basket weave sleeves would be a great choice.
You can’t talk about Italy without mentioning Gucci. From clothing to some of the greatest shoes and accessories available, the signature logo print and Italian flag stripe are everything style is about.
Every man needs a wallet, especially a Gucci one. Its signature black leather logo wallet and passport case is equally stylish and practical.
Another great piece is its Italian flag stripe weekender duffle. Wherever you take it, people will know what great taste you have.
5. Salvatore Ferragamo
Salvatore Ferragamo is known for luxury footwear. This season, the Limited Edition Gancio Bit Driver shoes will make your jaw drop. Made of calfskin in a stunning green color, featuring the label’s signature bit, these shoess will automatically make your entire ensemble look 1,000% more stylish. If green isn’t your color, these shoes are also available in red and blue.
If you like Derbies, these blue two-eyelet patent leather ones are practically one of a kind.
Prada is known for both its clothing and accessories. The brand’s logo triangle has become a universal symbol of luxury.
Its fall 2015 show was incredibly interesting. Miuccia Prada broke ground, showing menswear and women’s clothing in the same show. Many pieces were even gender non-specific. From a creative standpoint, this was a bold choice. From a practical standpoint, for most men, not so much. However, there were a few really noteworthy masculine pieces from the collection, such as this double-breasted grey suit. Yes, double breasted is coming back.
For something more casual, check out Prada’s accessories like these high top kicks. They are the perfect complement to any pair of jeans.
