You know the drill: Wake up. Struggle to brush teeth. Get coffee brewing. Remember to wash your face. Slap on cologne, and call it a morning. No more! Not only can washing your face, well, wake you up in the morning, and get rid of dirt and grime at night, it also can improve your complexion and keep your skin cells happy and healthy.
Unfortunately, many face washes on the market are loaded with potentially harmful chemicals and additives. But some natural options out there can be little more than a bottle of overpriced, ineffective cleanser. To find out what the best natural options were, we spoke with Whole Foods Market global Whole Body team member, Steven Benoit. Read on for his favorite picks for every type of face washer.
Best for: 2016 will be my skin’s best year yet men
“This one is great for razor bumps and occasional breakouts. It feels nice on the skin and doesn’t smell too floral or sweet,” says Benoit.
Best for: Never caught without cologne types
We love the handsome and sleek packaging as much as we love the clean scent. “Invigorating eucalyptus scented face wash that doubles as a shave foam,” comments Benoit. We’re all about twofers. It’s also: “Great for the gym bag.”
3. Ursa Major Essential Face Wipes, $24
Best for: Always on-the-go folks
Got a trip coming up? Don’t forget to throw these in your bag. “I normally don’t like wipes, but this one is my exception. It has their 4-in-1 face tonic formula — cleanser, exfoliator, healer, and hydrator in one. Great for travel, camping, or whenever you need a quick wash,” offers Benoit.
Best for: No-frills fellas
“It’s a great naturally formulated product and a very low price. The scent is masculine without trying too hard!” exclaims Benoit. The essential oils are a unique blend of eight, and the cleanser also has green tea for an extra punch.
5. Weleda One Step Cleanser & Toner, $19.50
Best for: You know your lady will use it too
“This is a super simple cleanser and toner combo that cleans without over-drying,” says Benoit. “[I also love] their complementing men’s line — shaving toner, shave cream, after shave balm, moisturizer, and body wash.” Your gal can also use this as a makeup remover.
6. 365 Everyday Value Daily Facial Cleanser, $5.99
Best for: Clean living men
Benoit didn’t even push his own brand, but we think it’s worth calling out. This responsibly-made face wash meets strict standards for sourcing, ingredients, and more. Did we also mention it’s a great gateway experience for the entire line of affordable and effective products?
