6 Stylish and Functional Bike Accessories That Cost Less Than $75

Accessories  they’re what makes every device or object feel a little bit more special and personal. And there’s no reason to leave your two-wheeler out in the cold. A host of new bike accessories have recently been released from big, household-name manufacturers as well as the myriad of boutique brands that seem to be popping up every day.

Whether you’re looking for style, functionality, or a combination of both, this season’s new gear will make your ride that much better  whether it’s to work, the coffee shop, or for a spirited, calorie-burning spin.

For less than $75, this gear really got us excited about pedaling away.

1. Fabric Cageless Water Bottle – $15

British firm Fabric is just now landing in the United States and its innovative solutions to commonplace problems have gotten our attention. Although the brand’s water bottle isn’t exactly cheap, it’s a simple, elegant solution: Instead of attaching a bulky and ugly water bottle cage to your bike, Fabric gives you a pair of ultralight, removable studs that screw into your bike’s frame. Two slots integrated into the bottle allow it to be tightly secured. Why didn’t anyone think of this before?

2. Clug Bike Clip – $25

Clug advertises its ultra-compact bike holder as a “hug for your bike,” and we can’t disagree. Mounted to a wall (look for the stud) with just two screws, Clug grips a bike’s front wheel and allows it to either be held vertically off the ground or, depending on your storage situation, with both wheels on the ground. Either way, one major asset to Clug is its compact packaging. Instead of a bulky and obtrusive rack or hook hanging off of your wall, the Clug is barely noticeable. Three sizes are available for all flavors of bikes  road, mountain, hybrid, city or even kid’s bikes.

3. Linus Pouch – $36

Storage solutions on a bike are never easy. A rack with pannier bags strapped to it is too bulky for most riders, while a messenger bag is probably overkill if you’re just out for a leisurely ride. Enter the Linus Pouch, made by a brand that’s as much a style icon today as it is a bike manufacturer. Clean and versatile, the pencil case-shaped Pouch can be strapped to your bike’s handlebars, behind its seat or even to its top tube. Heck, get three in different colors and you’ll basically be a pack mule on two wheels.

4. PUBLIC Trieste Coffee Cup Holder – $9

Nine bucks will barely buy you a latte these days, but at least you can carry it home in style with PUBLIC’s Trieste Coffee Cup Holder. Attached to your bike’s handlebars with just two easy bolts, the simple cup holder seems like a must-have to us. Moreover, it’s aluminum, so it won’t rust if your bike gets left outside in the rain.

5. Specialized Centro Winter LED helmet – $70

Helmets used to exist solely to protect your cranium in the event of a collision. Now, Specialized has popped an ultra-bright blinking or solid red LED light into the back of the helmet for increased visibility. A notch further up on the cool chart is that the company’s Centro Winter LED helmet also includes insulated padding to go around your ears.

6. Timbuk2 Catapult bag – $36

Nobody knows messenger bags like Timbuk2. The Catapult is one of the company’s mainstays and, despite its diminutive size, it can hold a laptop like a 13-inch MacBook or an iPad, as well as one of cycling’s most essential pieces of gear: a U-Lock. Moreover, the Catapult is full of thoughtfully-arranged pockets to help you make the most out of your small item storage. Not only that, but the Catapult is available in a variety of colors and materials.
