10 Must-Have Apps That Celebrities Use and Love

Pretty much everyone has a smartphone, which means they’re all downloading and using apps from the iOS App Store or the Google Play Store. We’ve truly reached the point where there’s an app for everything. (But we can think of a few fictional apps we still wish existed in real life.) Whether you love mobile games, social networks, or photography apps, it’s pretty easy to get addicted to your smartphone.

Smartphones are distracting not only to us mere mortals, but also to musicians, actors, YouTube stars, and other A-listers. Paparazzi routinely capture photos of celebrities glued to their smartphones. So naturally, we’re pretty curious about which apps our favorite celebrities are using. Fortunately, their social media profiles often give us insight into the apps they’re obsessing over.

Unsurprisingly, many of your favorite A-listers are using the same apps the whole internet is excited about. And Wired’s Peter Rubin made some pretty hilarious guesses at a few celebrities’ most-used apps. We don’t have any way of knowing all of the apps celebrities really have on their phones. But we do know at least a few of the apps that they use and love. Read on to check out some of the celebrity-endorsed apps you should have on your phone.

1. Bitmoji

Everybody, including your favorite celebrities, is obsessed with Bitmoji | Bitstrips.com

If Bitmoji‘s popularity in the App Store is any indication, plenty of us like creating cartoon avatars we can insert into stickers and send to our friends. And many celebrities like the app, too. Steven Tweedie reported for Inc. that Victoria Beckham, Zach Braff, Lena Dunham, and Seth Rogen used the app to create their own emoji.

E! News reported Jennifer Aniston used the app to create an avatar. And it’s not just her own avatar that she created with Bitmoji. She told the publication, “I like to make people’s Bitmojis.” Also, a Bitmoji spokesperson told Fortune no celebrities have been paid to use the app. “It’s all been on their own organic free will,” she said.

2. Face Swap Live

If you want an incredibly silly, celebrity-endorsed app, you can’t go wrong with Face Swap Live. The app lets you switch faces with a friend or a photo. Joseph Lamour reported for MTV News that everyone loved the app, which could “turn you into a talking celebrity.” (That’s because the app switches the faces right in the camera’s video feed and lets users record videos with the swapped faces.)

Celebrities, including YouTube stars Jenna Marbles and PewDiePie, plus Sia and Kylie Jenner, were quick to post their Face Swap Live creations. Some even encouraged their fans to share their Face Swaps online.

3. Headspace

We all need to take some time out from our busy lives to relax and clear our heads. And plenty of people, celebrities included, are turning to an app called Headspace to do just that. David Pierson reported for the LA Times that the app, co-founded by Buddhist monk Andy Puddicombe, enables users to “listen to meditation guides for topics as varied as anxiety and relationships.”

Headspace is a buzzed-about app in many circles. That includes circles of Hollywood A-listers. Pierson noted Headspace “counts celebrities Jessica Alba, Jared Leto, and Ryan Seacrest among its investors, not to mention Gwyneth Paltrow, Emma Watson, and Zach Braff among its fans.”

Raya bills itself as a private network for people in creative industries. But Nylon and other publications realized what it really is: a “secret dating app for celebrities” or a “so-called Tinder for Illuminati.”

Just after its launch, it was pretty tough to secure an invite to join Raya. That still seems to be the case, though the app is pretty easy to find on the app store. Nylon noted you have to fit a few criteria to join Raya. You have to “have a cool and/or creative occupation” and “have a significant Instagram following.” Plus, you have to “have other friends on Raya who can recommend you.”

And Nylon also claimed you have to “be hot” and “maybe be magical.” If you can gain membership to the platform, you’ll probably encounter some famous people. Think Rivers Cuomo, John Cusack, Cara Delevingne, Ruby Rose, Elijah Wood, and Zedd.

7. Snapchat

It’s no surprise celebrities love Snapchat. Popsugar recently compiled a list of more than 90 celebrities you should follow on Snapchat. The star-studded list features some obvious names, such as Selena Gomez, Kendall Jenner, and Nick Jonas. Plus, it includes some unexpected names, such as Luke Bryan, Chelsea Handler, and Dwayne Johnson. Allure has a Snapchat tutorial from Kylie Jenner if you’re new to the platform.
