Chrissy Teigen’s Post-Pregnancy Photos Are Refreshingly Honest — Especially Compared to Kate Middleton

Everyone’s birth experience is different. Some moms gently coax their offspring through the birth canal while diffusing essential oils and chanting positive affirmations. Others have a more sweat-drenched, swear-filled affair that reminds anyone within a 3-mile radius to take their birth control. It all depends on your situation.

Celebrities and public figures make having a baby seem easy. When Kate Middleton emerged from the hospital a few hours after giving birth looking more pulled-together than most women on their best days, moms everywhere collectively rolled their eyes.

But Chrissy Teigen? She’s a lot more down-to-earth than lots of other celebs and royal family members. And her totally relatable three-days postpartum photos (page 5) will make many moms smirk in solidarity.

Like many moms, Chrissy Teigen has been holding down the fort solo while her partner went back to work. She tweeted a video of their daughter, Luna, watching the Billboard Music Awards where Legend was performing.

Teigen has more than 17 million followers on Instagram thanks to her goofy sense of humor coupled with frank honesty. She shares plenty of glamorous photos — she is a model with a famous musician husband, after all — but she also shows off how she’s just a regular person (and mom).

Unlike Kate Middleton, model Chrissy Teigen looks a lot more like a typical postpartum mom. She shared a topless photo of herself on Instagram wearing what she called “Asian pear underwear,” which is a hilarious way of referring to the hospital-issued mesh undergarments that new moms wear post-delivery.

The photo also shows that Teigen’s stomach isn’t back to flat (which is totally normal, obviously). She looks real and accessible, breastfeeding her son in the kitchen.

Her Instagram followers loved the honesty

Her followers had an overwhelmingly positive response to the photo, including comments, such as, “All mothers know those underwear” and “I adore your realness! Those hospital panties are the best!” In no time, the photo had garnered over 1 million likes.

Meanwhile, Kate Middleton looked superhuman after giving birth

Teigen’s three-day postpartum photo was a lot more relatable than Kate Middleton’s first public shot. Mere hours after giving birth to Prince Louis, the Duchess of Cambridge appeared to a crowd of cheering fans outside the hospital. Her hair, outfit, and makeup all looked absolutely perfect. Needless to say, there were no mesh panties in sight (no word on whether she had a pair stashed in her bag).

If we could all be Kate Middleton, we probably would. But three cheers for Chrissy Teigen making regular moms everywhere feel normal.
