3 Easy Upgrades to Give Your Work Wardrobe
Men usually have more clothes than they know what to do with. But despite that, some guys tend to wear the same things over and over again — whether it’s loungewear or work attire. It might be laziness, or if we’re giving you the benefit of the doubt, it’s because you know what looks good on you. Fortunately, men’s styles tend to not change that often. A suit is, well, a suit, and the general style of the suit has been pretty consistent for years. If you’re finally ready to switch your style up a bit, here are three easy upgrades to give your work wardrobe, whether your job requires more professional attire or casual wear.
1. Get a beautiful watch
Notice the use of “beautiful.” If you don’t already wear a watch to work, then now is the time to get one. Wearing a watch exudes sophistication and amps up any work outfit a couple of notches. It’s one of the few accessories that men can acceptably wear anywhere and everywhere, and it is something that will get you noticed.
I’m not saying that you should go out and purchase a Rolex and get another mortgage on your house just to be able to afford it, but do look for one in stainless steel (not a leather band, even though those are nice, they only match specific outfits) that has a timeless feel to it. It’s a fantastic investment that amplifies success and power, which is what you’re going for at the office.
2. Get a belt
Every man needs to have a few great belts. Buy a black and brown leather belt to have for either outfit occasion. Black is a little more sophisticated, whereas brown is a little more laid back. Whether you’re wearing a button down tucked into your jeans, a t-shirt and jeans, or a button down and slacks, it’s very flattering to pair a tucked-in shirt with a belt — it will slim you. It’s the gentlemanly thing to do, and it shows your co-workers and superiors that you care about the way you look.
3. Get a topcoat
It’s time to update your work wardrobe with a modern topcoat. What’s great about a camel, black, or grey topcoat is that it can be dressed up and dressed down for whatever your work atmosphere allows. The topcoat literally goes on top of your coat (blazer) and is a classic, slimming, and gentlemanly style. It goes great with a suit and also a nice button-down with slimming dark jeans.
