Everything Meghan Markle Eats to Make Her Skin Glow
As a royal, Meghan Markle is always ready for the camera. That includes the perfect outfit, amazing hair, and glowing skin. However, have you ever wondered how she keeps her skin looking so fresh every time you see her?
It’s not just her beauty products, though we’re sure she only uses the best. She hasn’t been able to spill her secrets since marrying Prince Harry, but back in 2016, gave us an inside look at all her favorite foods. As it turns out, her diet is a key component in that gorgeous glowing skin.
She follows a non-restricting routine
According to an interview with Delish, she follows a routine that doesn’t make her feel restricted. When she was still on Suits, she’d “start each shooting day with hot water with lemon, followed by a healthy breakfast of steel-cut oats with bananas and agave syrup.”
Lunchtime included a salad with a protein, and she’d always save room for a snack before dinner. That would usually be an apple with almond butter or a green juice. She raved, “Green juice is a food-as-medicine philosophy for me.”
She eats almonds and gluten-free foods for glowing skin
She often chooses almonds and gluten-free foods, which are both great sources for her glowing skin. According to Nicole Osinga, a registered dietitian, “If you are looking for beautiful skin, a daily serving of almonds (about 23 almonds) are the perfect addition to your diet.” They contain nutrients for skin health, such as vitamin E, zinc, and healthy monounsaturated fats, as Best Health Magazine Canada explained.
She hasn’t nixed gluten completely
Although she often goes gluten-free, she hasn’t nixed gluten from her diet completely. “It gets such a bad rap,” she told Delish. When choosing dinner, she would sometimes go with “pasta with zucchini, lots of parmesan, and a glass of wine.”
She also spilled, “When I’m traveling, I won’t miss an opportunity to try great pasta. I come back from vacation every year with a food baby, and I’ve named her Comida. I get to the set and I’m like, ‘Hey, Comida’s here, and she’s kicking.'”
It’s all about balance
When it comes to indulging, Markle knows it’s all about balance. She told Shape Magazine in 2013, “I think if you deprive yourself of anything you’re just going to crave it more, so for me it’s just finding that balance.” She added, “Eating really good during the week and then treating yourself to whatever it is that you want over the weekend.”
Some of her other favorite foods include tacos, cocktails, sushi, french fries, and roast chicken.
She can’t eat certain foods in public
Now that she’s a royal, she can eat whatever she wants at home. However, when she’s out in public, the queen has forbidden any member of the family from eating garlic or shellfish.
The bans on both foods come with good reason. According to Express, “With many meetings between official visitors, it is thought to be advised against to prevent any awkward bad breath.” As far as shellfish goes? “There is a high risk of food poisoning with seafood so it is removed from the menu to prevent illness while on tour.”
