4 Hair and Makeup Services Every Woman Should Try

Anyone who has ever contoured their face, blow dried their hair, or tried their luck with a smokey eye can tell you that getting glammed up isn’t easy. It’s tedious and exhausting, and you might avoid doing your hair and makeup altogether if you don’t have the time or patience. But that doesn’t mean you don’t have to go au natural.

Over the past few years, several services have been sprouting up that, for a fee, will do your hair and makeup for you. If you have an upscale event to attend or just want to make a normal day a little more glamorous,  check out our four favorite services.

1. GlamSquad

In 2017, you can get virtually anything you want through your phone, whether it’s a car, Chinese food, or a date for Saturday night. And through GlamSquad, getting your hair or makeup done for a big event is as easy as a couple taps and swipes on your screen.

Launched in 2012, GlamSquad sends talented nail, hair, and makeup professionals straight to your doorstep, so you can get glam without leaving your apartment. If you were to have someone come do your hair, for example, all you need to do is wash your hair 10 to 15 minutes prior, select a style on the app, and your stylist will take care of the rest.

No matter which service you order, you have the freedom to binge-watch your favorite TV show, check your emails, or lounge around in your pajamas as you’re getting glam. And compared to other services, the prices are pretty reasonable: $50 for a blowout, $75 for makeup without adding lashes, and $75 to $95 for a manicure and pedicure, plus an additional 20% tax and gratuity for each service. At the moment, GlamSquad is only available in New York City and Los Angeles, with a Miami hub opening soon, but we’re hoping more locations will sprout up in 2017.

2. beGlammed

Attention all blushing brides: This may be the perfect service for your upcoming nuptials. Finding a credible, and talented stylist to do your own hair can be challenging, but then you remember you also have to consider the bridesmaids who are standing by your side at the alter. It’s not their big day, but they deserve to look and feel just as beautiful. That’s where beGlammed comes in.

Founded by Maile Pacheco in 2014, beGlammed connects customers with professional, and carefully vetted, stylists. Similar to GlamSquad, this service offers quality hair and makeup services across the United States and Canada, but perhaps its most impressive service is the wedding package. With this deal, each of your bridesmaids can enjoy getting their hair and makeup done for $70 and $95, respectively. Not planning a wedding? This service also offers hair and makeup for traditional events and even Halloween.

3. StyleSeat

Whether you recently moved to a new city or are simply in need of a different stylist, finding your go-to spot for all your beauty demands takes time, and you’ll likely waste a lot of it in the process. Luckily, there’s StyleSeat. This service makes it easy to find all the best salons for hair, nails, makeup, waxing, and so much more. All you need to do is type in the service you’re looking for as well as your zip code, and StyleSeat will churn out a bunch of salons that meet your requirements.

The storefronts vary in ratings and prices, so you can pick and choose as you wish. Sure, finding a new spot may take some trial and error, but StyleSeat can definitely help cut down time spent going to different salons.

4. Drybar

Of course, no roundup would be complete without mentioning Drybar. Launched in 2010 by co-founders Alli Webb, Michael Landau, and Cameron Webb, consider Drybar an idyllic space for women to sit back, relax (while watching a romantic comedy playing throughout the salon, naturally), and treat your hair to the TLC it deserves. When you go into the brick-and-mortar store, you can choose from a variety of cute hairstyles named after classic cocktails and spirits — “the Manhattan,” for example, is a clean blowout while “the Mai Thai” is a head full of beachy waves.

Your stylist will wash and dry your hair, so you won’t have to lift a finger — unless you’re taking a sip of your complimentary wine, that is. A classic blowout will cost you $40, but you can add on different amenities like a scalp massage for an additional fee.
