How to Dress Like These 5 Oscar Nominees

The Oscars are just around the corner, and for movie buffs it’s an exciting time of year to see which one of your favorite films will win an award. The nominations for 2016 have an excellent pool of seasoned actors. Take a look at the nominees below and how to dress like the potential winners; who knows, your look could be Oscar-worthy.

1. Matt Damon

Matt Damon is not a newbie when it comes to Oscar nominations, this year he is nominated for Best Actor in a Leading Role for The Martian. When it comes to walking the red carpet, Damon has this category nailed down to science. He always looks sharp on the red carpet, sticking to the traditional tuxedo in black and white. Mimicking this actor’s style is not hard and works well for those that prefer a simple and basic look. Lean toward short-sleeve polo shirts in dark colors like black and charcoal gray. Damon likes to style these staple tops with either a pair of dark-colored khakis or jeans.

Fassbender has been nominated for Best Actor in a Leading Role for the film Steve Jobs. Undoubtedly, his look of choice on the night of the Oscars with be sharp and red carpet friendly. However, the actor loves wearing a basic pair of jeans, and he often dresses up or down with little effort. Not only is this his signature style, but there is sense of cool confidence that goes along with his wardrobe selections. Try wearing a dark V-neck T-shirt with a structured blazer and a dark-washed pair of jeans. Fassbender varies this look by swapping out a V-neck tee with a crewneck option in additional colors including white and gray.

The actor has been nominated for Best Actor in a Supporting Role for the movie The Revenant. Hardy is often seen sporting a scruffy beard and a low haircut; this helps to translate his bad-boy image even into the red carpet. To nail his look, keep your formalwear pretty basic with a plain white button-down paired with a dark suit and tie. When it comes to casual attire, Hardy keeps it basic with a relaxed-fit pair of jeans and a heather gray sweatshirt with a crewneck.

Christian Bale has been known to create Hollywood buzz with his long list of credentials including an Oscar win for Best Supporting Actor for his performance as Dicky Eklund in The Fighter a few years back. The actor has been nominated again for Best Supporting Actor in the movie, The Big Short. Getting Bale’s look isn’t too hard. However, being able to pull it off with nonchalant attitude is key. The color of choice for Bale appears to be black; he keeps his styling as simple as possible. Avoid washed out fabrics, and stick to rich black garments including sweaters, button-downs, and T-shirts.

Mark Ruffalo is another serious actor that is all about keeping his look clean and simple. Ruffalo has been nominated for Best Actor in a Supporting Role for the movie Spotlight. When Ruffalo is not gracing the red carpet, his wardrobe usually consists of solid colors such as black, navy, and gray. Mixing casual basics with a blazer in a minimal design is the actor’s favorite go-to look. Tees with a few buttons are woven into Ruffalo’s style choices often, usually paired with a dark blazer.
