Do you feel as if you wear the same things all of the time? Have you resolved to dress better in 2016? Having better style is not about changing your look entirely so much as enhancing your current style. It really doesn’t take a lot of effort to look better. Just changing one or two things can go a very long way. Whether you want to improve your look on the weekends, for the office or even at the gym, here are a few tips to take your look to the next level.

From weekend to wow

Every man is likes to wear jeans and a t-shirt because it’s a comfortable ensemble, but it isn’t the most stylish choice. One of the easiest ways to up the ante on this outfit is to add a sport coat or blazer when you would normally wear a hoodie or sweater. Bonobos’ Academy Blazer is a nice light grey color that easily dresses up a pair of straight leg jeans and black t-shirt. If you prefer bright colors, Sid Mashburn’s bottle green herringbone Virgil No 3 jacket is really like nothing else out there. The color is so striking and the herringbone texture keeps it looking distinguished.

Another way to take your look to the next level is with a pair of punchy shoes. Whether you are into kicks or loafers, adding some interesting footwear can really help you pull it all together. J.M. Weston’s 281 Le Moc Suede Loafers have a distressed, already broken in look. They add some punch to plain jeans and a t-shirt. Complete the outfit with a navy blue blazer. From activewear to athleisure

Activewear is tricky because it actually needs to be functional. A half-zip pullover, such as this one from Lululemon is a better choice than an old school hoodie, especially one with a sports team or college logo on it. A more affordable alternative is Old Navy’s moisture-wicking pullover. It is also available in a larger range of colors and sizes.

Printed pants have become a rising trend in women’s activewear and now the look is becoming more popular with men. Under Armour’s Rival Jogger Pants are a cool camouflage print.

If you are a runner, trade in your windbreaker for a more stylish vest like the Trace Vest from Aether. It is available in blue, black and green. Super functional, it even features a media pocket with an audio valve for headphones.

From corporate to fashion takeover

Do you wear a uniform to work every day even though your company does not actually have one? Do you have a bold personality but a boring look? Let’s get down to business and discover a clothing category that is easy and often inexpensive to improve upon.

Pocket squares are one of the best ways to make your look more stylish instantly. Pocket squares are easy to make your signature accessory because you can easily wear a different one every day of the week. One square you will want to buy in multiples is this classic gingham from Tie Bar. Or if you prefer something more retro or vintage looking, Ted Baker’s Oval Medallion square might be more your style.

Another way to develop your look is with a bold dress shirt to replace your standard solid white or blue button down (yawn). Thomas Pink’s Mears Check Slim Fit Double Cuff Shirt is a great example of a business shirt that is a pleasure to wear. But, if your office (or look) is on the more conservative side, Vineyard Vines’ Tattersall Cooper Shirt in Bahamas Breeze is a fun, but still toned-down option.
