Between these highly publicized events and shows like The Bachelor, we’ve become completely addicted to the prospect of an impending union. However, as lovely as these stars look on their special days, few truly make their mark in history.

15. Chrissy Teigen

Before she was the queen of social media, Chrissy Teigen walked down the aisle in Lake Como, Italy and married the love of her life, John Legend. As with most celebrity brides, Teigen had several outfit changes — all of which Vera Wang designed. Her ceremony dress was a classic ivory shade complete with a tulle skirt and strapless neckline. But, after the celebrity couple’s I do’s, Teigen went from classic to sexy with a crimson-colored mermaid gown complete with a sheared organza skirt and micro-pleated bodice.

In 2006, country singer Keith Urban and actress Nicole Kidman tied the knot in Sydney, Australia. The A-list actress looked iconic in an ivory silk chiffon gown by Nicolas Ghesquière of Balenciaga, as well as Fred Leighton antique diamond and pearl earrings. Despite her endlessly captivating red carpet looks, Kidman’s wedding dress will be the one ensemble that stands the test of time.

George Clooney was considered an eternal bachelor until he met and fell in love with Amal Alamuddin, a brilliant and equally gorgeous human rights lawyer. While getting their marriage license, she wore a stunning ivory two-piece jumpsuit. For their wedding in Venice, Italy, she wore a custom Oscar de la Renta gown with French lace, a sweep train, and hand-embroidered pearls. To complete this stunning look, she paired the gown with an elegant, floor-length veil.

Norma Jean Mortenson (aka Marilyn Monroe) married Arthur Miller on June 29, 1956. Despite their celebrity status, the ceremony was very intimate, with only 25 guests in attendance. The wedding rings were inscribed with “now is forever,” and Monroe was given away by her acting teacher, Lee Strasberg. Despite their ring inscriptions, the marriage would only last five years.

Triple-threat Judy Garland married Vincente Minnelli (her second husband) after they met on the set of The Clock, where Judy was acting and Vincente was directing. Their daughter, Liza, was born in 1946, and the marriage lasted until 1951. Although Garland severely struggled with pill addiction, there’s no denying her talent or how lovely she looked on her wedding day.

If ever there was a union of modern-day aristocrats, it has to be the marriage of hotel heiress Nicky Hilton and English banker James Rothschild. The couple wed at Kensington Palace in London on July 10, 2015. Hilton Rothschild wore a custom high-neck, long-sleeved Valentino dress, equipped with a delicately embroidered veil and 10-foot train. During an interview with HuffPost Live, Hilton Rothschild remarked, “I knew in my mind that I really wanted to do something traditional, just classic, and white lace, and beautiful.” We can’t argue with the results.

In 2011, the world watched as Kate Middleton walked down the aisle towards her future as the Duchess of Cambridge. The commoner-turned-royal bride wore a stunning custom Sarah Burton for Alexander McQueen wedding dress with lace details and a plunging neckline. As a royal bride, Middleton of course rocked a some of the royal family’s heirlooms — her engagement ring, included. However, she also stayed true to her own simple, sophisticated style.

The people’s princess wore a stunning ivory silk taffeta and antique lace gown designed by Welsh fashion designers, David and Elizabeth Emanuel. With a ruffled neckline and a 25-foot train, the dress was considered one of the best kept secrets in fashion history.

Priscilla Presley looked absolutely gorgeous on her wedding day, even if the event was on the short side. The ceremony itself lasted only eight minutes and was followed by a quick press conference and $10,000 dollar breakfast reception. Their only child, Lisa Marie, was born exactly nine months after their wedding.

Solange Knowles married her longtime partner, director Alan Ferguson, in New Orleans during November of 2014. The bride opted for a modern take on traditional wedding attire, choosing an ivory gown with a matching cape by Humberto Leon for Kenzo. She accessorized with gold arm cuffs, bright red lipstick, and nude pointy pumps. The entire event was all-ivory, so the 100-plus guests (including maid of honor Beyoncé), attended in their own off-white outfits.

Elizabeth Taylor donned several wedding dresses in her lifetime — all of which proved she was one of the most beautiful brides of all time. When the British-born actress married Richard Burton in Montreal, Canada on March 15, 1964, she traded her veil for a long braid that reached down to her lower back and was wrapped in a floral garland.

4. Audrey Hepburn

On September 25th, 1954, Audrey Hepburn married fellow film star Mel Ferrer in a dress designed by Balmain. The couple went to great lengths to keep their wedding a secret from the press, but there are still some photos floating around. The pair would go on to have a son together, but they sadly divorced after 14 years of marriage.

British model Poppy Delevingne married her long-term partner James Cook in 2014. The couple celebrated their marriage twice: first officiating their nuptials in London’s St. Paul’s Church, then again in Morocco at a colorful, star-studded affair. Delevingne’s custom Chanel couture wedding dress was absolutely legendary.

2. Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis

Jackie and JFK’s wedding was, as you might expect, the social event of the season. There were more than 800 guests, including senators, diplomats, and other high-society families. The ceremony took place at St. Mary’s Church on September 12, 1953, and Jackie wore an ivory silk portrait-neckline dress designed by Ann Lowe.

Before Princess Diana and Kate Middleton had their “weddings of the century,” there was Grace Kelly of Monaco’s. The Hollywood actress-turned-princess married Prince Rainier on April 18, 1956 in what is now considered one of the most fairytale-like weddings of all time. The two-day event consisted of both a civil wedding and religious wedding, where Grace Kelly of Monaco wore two gowns that were designed by Hollywood wardrobe designer Helen Rose and handmade in MGM’s studio ateliers.
