7 New Skin Care Brands You Need to Know

We’re all for sticking to what works when it comes to your beauty routine. The moisturizer you adopted in high school may be just what your skin needs, and the cleanser you’ve been buying in bulk for years may be the only thing that keeps everything balanced. But no matter how much you love your current skin care regimen when you’re going about your routine at home or packing your favorite beauty products for a flight away from home, it never hurts to see what other options are out there.

Ahead, check out a few of our favorite new skin care brands, and you just might find a new product or two to love. Sure, you can stick to your Clinique moisturizer, your Estée Lauder serum, your L’Oreal lotions, and your Lancôme makeup remover. But there are some exciting new names that are worth checking out if you want to add a dose of something new to your routine.

Cane + Austin is a skin care line from dermatologist Craig Austin, who champions glycolic acid derived from sugar cane as an essential part of at-home skin care. The idea is that Cane + Austin products use glycolic acid to “exfoliate, hydrate and reduce signs of aging for healthy, younger-looking skin.” Many of the line’s products get rave reviews, but a widely-cited favorite is the Cane + Austin Miracle Pads, which aim to deliver results comparable to those of a 30% glycolic acid peel.

2. Drunk Elephant

Drunk Elephant is a skin care brand founded by Tiffany Masterson, who wants products that are safe, effective, unscented, and non-irritating. Virgin marula oil is a key ingredient in Drunk Elephant’s products, and also gives the brand its memorable name, thanks to a myth that elephants like to eat the fruit that falls from Marula trees. Once they eat the fruit, fermentation occurs inside their stomachs and the elephants become drunk, supposedly. Drunk Elephant’s products won’t actually get you tipsy, but they use the best of natural and synthetic materials and efficacious percentages of active ingredients. Crowd favorites like the T.L.C. Framboos Glycolic Night Serum and the C-Firma Day Serum will address your skin care concerns much more effectively and with a lot less irritation than many other brands.

3. Farmacy

Farmacy is a skin care brand founded by plantsman Mark Veeder, who patented a type of flower variety, and farming expert Robert Beyfuss, who cultivates the plant in upstate New York. Farmacy’s products all contain farm-grown botanicals and naturally derived ingredients, and they’re irritant-free (unlike skin care from many other “natural” brands). There are plenty of Farmacy products to love, but a great place to start is the brand’s collection of “perennial picks,” which includes an assortment of products powered by the patented Echinacea GreenEnvy, including the Invincible Root Cell Anti-Aging Serum, the Sleep Tight Renewing Night Treatment, the Rise ‘N Shine Daily Moisture Lock, and the New Day Gentle Cleansing Grains.
