We’re all addicted to our smartphones. We’re constantly downloading apps to run on them, trying to figure out how to get their batteries to last as long as possible, and working to make the most of the storage capacity we have. While we all love and spend tons of time with the phones we have, most of us are at least a little bit interested in the technology and features we’ll get the next time we upgrade our phones. Even within the next five years, new smartphones will gain all kinds of exciting new features that most of us wouldn’t have imagined a couple of years ago.

Especially if you aren’t upgrading to a new smartphone in 2016, you’re probably interested in which new smartphones will be released in 2017 and what features you can expect if you buy a new phone from one of your favorite smartphone makers. Read on to check out some of the most exciting smartphones coming out in 2017 and learn what you can look forward to in a new year of smartphone releases.

1. BlackBerry Mercury

Evan Blass reports for VentureBeat reports that the BlackBerry Mercury, expected to launch in 2017, will feature a physical keyboard like the BlackBerry Priv. The keyboard reportedly won’t be concealable, and the device is expected to feature a 4.5-inch screen with full HD resolution and a 3:2 aspect ratio. The enclosure will reportedly be built of aluminum, and the device will be powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 and 3GB of RAM. Blass also expects the device to feature 32GB of storage, a 3,400mAh battery, an 18MP rear-facing camera, and an 8MP front-facing camera.

2. HTC 11

The HTC 11, expected to launch in early 2017, is rumored to feature largely the same external design as its predecessor, with a metal body and dual textures. The device is expected to be powered by the Snapdragon 830, and will likely feature an impressive camera, perhaps one with an even higher resolution than the 12MP camera included in the HTC 10. Rumors also point to water resistance and a more powerful battery as candidates for inclusion in next year’s flagship.

James Rogerson reports for Tech Radar that he wants to see an iconic design, a great but simple camera, better low-light performance, and front-facing speakers in HTC’s next flagship phone. He also points to a waterproof build, more consistent battery performance, and a brighter screen as improvements that HTC could make over 2016’s model.

3. iPhone 7s

Apple fans can expect big design changes and major hardware upgrades for the 1oth anniversary iPhone. Even as rumors and reports tried to determine what we’d see on the iPhone 7 release date, they’ve also indicated what may be on the table for the 2017 iPhone. Macworld notes that Apple may skip the iPhone 7s and introduce the iPhone 8 instead to highlight major improvements like an OLED screen, upgraded haptic feedback, wireless charging, and big improvements to the camera and processor.

It’s rumored that Apple could even implement an edge-to-edge screen that integrates the TouchID fingerprint sensor, while it could also add iris scanning, facial recognition, or another form of biometric authentication.

4. LG G6

The LG G6 will be the next installment in LG’s premium smartphone series. Rumor has it that the LG G6 may be a larger phone than its predecessor, and that it may feature eye-sensing technology, waterproofing, and a new array of health-tracking sensors. The phone is also expected to work seamlessly with the company’s latest smartwatches and virtual reality devices, and is expected to feature a screen with 4K resolution, an octacore processor, and up to 5GB of RAM.

James Rogerson reports for Tech Radar that a more stylish design, an app drawer, better battery life, a front-mounted fingerprint scanner, front-facing stereo speakers, more modules, a wide-angle front-facing camera, and a brighter always-on display would be great candidates for inclusion in the G6.

5. Microsoft Surface Phone

Windows Central reports that Microsoft’s much-rumored Surface Phone could be launched in April 2017. The smartphone is expected to focus on security and productivity features. Additionally, the Continuum feature that it introduced with Windows 10 will likely be a key selling point for the Surface Phone, which Microsoft will likely market as a compelling alternative to a computer.

Mary Jo Foley reports for ZDNet that new Surface device from factors, including the Surface Phone, are dependent on Intel’s Kaby Lake processors (which are the successor to Skylake processors), which likely means a launch later in 2017. Foley notes that it will be interesting to see what form Microsoft’s vision of an all-in-one Surface device might take. “Is it a modular PC? Or is it a souped-up Surface display designed to connect with Continuum-powered phones?” We’ll need to wait until 2017 to find out.

6. Samsung Galaxy S8

In 2017, the curved “Edge” display may become the norm across Samsung’s smartphone lines. Chris Smith reports for BGR that Samsung may not even make a flat version of the Galaxy S8, a flagship phone that’s expected to arrive at  Mobile World Congress. From a 30MP camera to a 4K display, this phone is rumored to be equipped with exciting new technology at every turn. A 4,200mAh battery, upgraded wireless charging functionality, dual microSD card support, an IP68 rating, and a 3D display have also been mentioned in leaks and rumors.

7. Samsung Galaxy X

Rumor has it that 2017 will be the year that Samsung introduces flexible, foldable, new smartphones. Internally referred to as “Project Valley,” the effort will reportedly result in a Galaxy X phone that will feature a clamshell design that enables it to fold up despite its large touchscreen. Jungah Lee reports for Bloomberg that the device would have “a 5-inch screen when used as a handset, that unfurls into a display that’s as large as 8 inches, similar to a tablet.” The device is reportedly one of the five flagship smartphones coming out in 2017 from Samsung.

8. Sony Xperia Z7

The Sony Xperia Z7 is already the topic of several rumors. Sony may introduce not only a standard Z7, but also a Premium and a Mini model. The Z7 Mini is expected to be less expensive than the other two models. The device is expected to feature dual cameras, an upgraded processor, and Google’s latest operating system. The Z7 and Z7 Premium would share similar specs, including a wider camera lens, more megapixels, optical image stabilization, and auto laser focus, plus 3D features for viewing and recording.

9. Xiaomi Mi7

Xiaomi’s Mi7 is expected to be a faster, more powerful version of its current model. The phone is expected to feature either a UHD or 4K resolution screen and either the Qualcomm 820 or 830 processor. The camera will be a major selling point of the Xiaomi Mi7, and the device could be equipped with a 25MP rear-facing camera and an 8MP front-facing camera, plus features like optical image stabilization, auto laser focus, and even 3D features. A unibody design, wireless charging, and an iris scanner are also expected.
