For those who want to copy Meghan Markle’s wedding day makeup look exactly, get your wallets ready. Her makeup artist and friend, Daniel Martin, used Dior products because he’s affiliated with the brand, according to Vogue Paris. He’s also a consultant for Honest Beauty and incorporated a number of their products into Meghan’s look. Even without the exact products, Meghan’s look can easily be recreated. Learn exactly how to recreate her wedding look, ahead.
Step 1: Use foundation sparingly
Meghan Markle is known for lightly applying her foundation, allowing her freckles to show. To do so, go light on foundation, mixing a medium coverage foundation with moisturizer to make a tinted moisturizer, if necessary. Meghan’s go-to foundation is Armani Luminous Silk Foundation, Lydia F. Sellers, her former hairstylist and makeup artist, told Refinery29. On Meghan’s wedding day, Martin used Dior Backstage Face and Body Foundation, according to Vogue Paris.
Hint: Ease up on contouring.
Step 2: Go subtle with contouring
To get sculpted cheekbones, contour just underneath cheekbones with Dior’s Backstage Contour Palette. The quad has four different neutral tones, perfect for creating the right shade. The key is to keep the contour subtle. Remember to blend! And for a pop of color, use Honest Beauty’s cream blush in Truly Exciting.
Hint: Use natural colored eyeshadow.
Step 3: Apply neutral shades on the eyes
Use the Dior Backstage Eye Palette Warm Neutrals palette in 001 on the lids. Go for a light wash of color all over the lid with a darker shade in the crease. And blend the eyeshadows a lot. Finish off by putting a dab of the palette’s peachy color on the brow bone.
Hint: Don’t forget eyeliner.
Step 4: Apply tons of eyeliner
Use a liquid black eyeliner to line the eyes and give them a slight lift at the outer corner of the eye. Martin used Diorshow On Stage Liner in Matte Black on Meghan but any black liquid liner will work. Use the liquid liner to make tiny dots on the lower lash line to mimic fuller lashes.
Hint: Meghan Markle’s favorite mascara is a makeup industry favorite too.
Step 5: Load up on mascara
Before using mascara, curl your eyelashes. Then apply Diorshow Iconic mascara, Meghan’s favorite mascara, according to an interview she had with Allure in 2017. In the same interview, Meghan said she used Revitalash eyelash serum. She may have foregone false lashes in favor of her eyelash serum on her wedding day. But one thing is for sure — Martin used a mascara by Honest Beauty in addition to the Diorshow mascara for Meghan’s wedding day, according to Vogue Paris.
Hint: Wear a pink lip.
Step 6: Use a pink shade of lipstick
Meghan’s makeup artist mixed two colors for her wedding day look. Martin combined Dior’s Lip Glow in Coral and Honest Beauty’s Truly Kissable Lip Crayon in Sheer Chestnut Kiss, according to Vogue Paris. Another option to try is one of Meghan’s favorite lipsticks,Very Victoria by Charlotte Tilbury, according to People.
Hint: Wear the same nail polish as Meghan Markle did on her wedding day.
Step 7: Use a neutral colored nail polish
The queen has used Essie’s nail polish in Ballet Slippers since 1989 when her hairdresser wrote a letter to Essie Weingarten asking for a bottle, according to Allure. Meghan Markle wore the shade on her wedding day and for her engagement photo shoot, according to E! News.
