Well friends, we’ve finally made it to the heart of summer. We know you spent all winter dreaming about this moment and counting down the days until you could shop for strappy dresses and shorts. So as you clean out your closet to making room for new summer pieces, of course you could use a little inspiration to help guide your decisions. As a starting point, check out these A-listers with the best summer style. From bright yellow gowns to flared jeans and gold accessories, these are the looks you’ll want to replicate in the weeks to come.
1. Sienna Miller
Considering the fact that British actress Sienna Miller is known for her bohemian aesthetic, it’s no surprise that she tops the list of summer’s most stylish stars. Most of Miller’s go-to outfits are light, flowing, and full of feminine details. We couldn’t get enough of the tiered, light yellow dress she wore to the premiere of Amazon Studios’ The Lost City Of Z. This delicate number ticked all the boxes for summer’s finest style details.
2. Solange Knowles
Singer, artist, and all-around fashion icon Solange Knowles can always be counted on to deliver jaw-dropping looks — and luckily for us, summer is when she truly shines. We loved the front-row outfit she sported to the NYFW Creatures of Comfort show. Rather than just wearing a tank top and high-waist jeans (two classic summer staples), Knowles elevated her look with open-toed sandals and a stunning, sheer trench. Paired with voluminous hair and bright purple eye shadow, this summer outfit was one for the books.
3. Poppy Delevingne
Everything about model Poppy Delevingne screams summertime, from her year-round freckles to her beachy blonde hair — even her sunny personality. Most importantly, Delevingne’s bright style stands out with pops of color, florals, and flowing fabrics.
We adored the blue ensemble she wore to the launch of her new Jo Malone fragrances, which can teach us a few important lessons about dressing formally without getting too hot. For example, in addition to rolling her sleeves, Delevingne was sure to wear lightweight material, an ensemble with cutouts for ventilation, and a color that doesn’t show sweat stains.
4. Katie Holmes
One thing we always admire about Katie Holmes is her ability to resist fleeting trends. Whereas most A-listers have fully converted to toothpick jeans and athleisure leggings, Holmes has yet to waver from the styles that most flatter her figure. Exhibit A: Holmes isn’t afraid to rock wide-leg pants during summer. This casual, off-duty look is perfect for a breezy July afternoon. Suri Cruise is pretty lucky to have such a stylish role model.
5. Nicky Hilton
Let’s be honest, out of the two Hilton sisters, Nicky has a far better and more evolved sense of style. Particularly since her re-brand as Nicole Rothschild (that’s right, this heiress married into an even wealthier English family), Hilton’s style has been impeccable. Her summery ensemble at the 10th Annual Veuve Clicquot Polo Classic was just one example of how Hilton has moved away from her opulent, party-girl wardrobe. She’s since learned to complement her signature blonde locks with earth tones and conservative silhouettes.
6. Jessica Alba
Whenever Jessica Alba comes to mind, we immediately picture her award-winning smile and warm personality. As such, it’s no surprise that this bubbly CEO is a summer style icon. Not only can this mother of two rock a pair of shorts and a T-shirt on the weekends, but she also looks fabulous sitting front row at high-fashion events. Here she was attending the Tory Burch show in a modern floral dress.
7. Jasmine Tookes
As one of the world’s top models, it makes perfect sense that Jasmine Tookes has picked up a few of the fashion industry’s tricks of the trade. Tookes particularly knows how to nail her summer looks, as you can clearly tell by this getup she wore to the Revolve party at the Coachella Festival. One area in which Tookes especially succeeded was layering her accessories. On top of the multiple, dainty gold necklaces, she coordinated the rose-colored strap on her floppy hat with her lipstick, eye shadow, and the pink flowers on her dress.
8. Gwyneth Paltrow
As someone who almost exclusively wears white with pops of red, Gwyneth Paltrow maintains a quintessential summer style that will never go out of fashion. With minimalist statement pieces, Paltrow is able to throw on anything in her closet and know that it’ll work perfectly. Her simple, pared-down wardrobe could teach us all a lesson in shopping for quality over quantity.
9. Kate Bosworth
Actress Kate Bosworth fully commits to her seasonal attire. During winter, she can be found in head-to-toe black and dark, vampy lipstick. Throughout autumn, she’s a vision in warm creams and brown suede. In summer? Bosworth is a model for how to radiate warmth and sunshine through your sartorial choices. This floor-length, yellow gown is the perfect embodiment of what summer attire should look like.
10. Margot Robbie
There must be something in Australian DNA that makes women like Margot Robbie so naturally summer-ready. No matter where in the world Robbie is, the Aussie stunner looks like she’s headed to the beach. On top of her many little white dresses and cut-off denim shorts, Robbie also knows how to channel her summer style on the red carpet. We think she looked ravishing in this blue and white, hydrangea-patterned dress at the charity One For The Boys fashion ball in London.
11. Kristen Bell
Do blondes really have more fun? The jury is still out, but they do have great summer style. Kristen Bell is an excellent example. Her outfit at the Veuve Clicquot Polo Classic combined so many of our favorite summer elements. In particular, her black leather belt and matching felt hat added a stylish western twist.
