Style Tips We Learned From Joanna Gaines’ ‘Fixer Upper’ Reveal Day Outfits
Fixer Upper’s Joanna Gaines knows a thing or two about style — and not just when it comes to home decor. In addition to showing off her eye-catching interior design work, reveal day also reveals a side of Gaines that we don’t normally see: her personal style.
We share some of our favorite looks, plus the style tips we’ve learned from Joanna Gaines’ reveal day outfits and more, ahead.
1. Don’t be afraid of a little color
When Joanna Gaines is not in her Magnolia T-shirt, jeans and rainboots, she opts for a splash of color. Case in point: the mustard yellow summer dress she wore when revealing her sister’s Fixer Upper.
2. Simple goes a long way
As far as Gaines’ personal style is considered, she often opts for more simple designs — especially when it comes to dresses. Proving that simple doesn’t mean boring.
3. Embrace throwback trends
With so many trends to choose from, knowing what works for you (and what doesn’t) can be a challenge. That said, Gaines knows how to put her own personal twist on throwback trends. We love her simple, yet stylish take on ’70s flare jeans and clogs.
4. Dress it down
You don’t need to dress up to rock a gorgeous summer dress. In fact, most summer dresses look better — i.e., more effortless — when dressed down. We love how Gaines paired her chevron striped sundress with a pair of sandals and fun earrings.
5. Find a pair of boots you love
When you live in Texas, it’s always boots season. That said, you don’t need a closet full of them. While Gaines tends to rock her Hunter rain boots on the regular, her brown leather ankle booties also get a lot of love.
6. Don’t take yourself too seriously
It’s no secret that Chip and Joanna Gaines like to have fun, even when it comes to fashion. While we love how Gaines paired this rusty orange one piece with jeans and booties, we love her behind-the-scenes shot of it even more.
7. When in doubt, go with classic
If you aren’t sure about a silhouette or style, you can never go wrong with classic. Gaines’ full skirt, pumps, and cropped sleeves have a ’50s vibe that not only flatters her figure, but looks stunning, too.
