Just like Benjamin Button, Jennifer Lopez is somehow aging backwards. With each passing year, she makes skin improvements, her body gets even more toned, and her personality feels more youthful. However, out of all the incredible transformations J.Lo has made, our favorite would have to be her hair journey. Lopez’s hair is perfectly thick, full of volume, and looks great at any length. Here are eight times we wished we had her luscious locks.
1. Parted bangs
Lopez has an ideal face shape, features, and complexion. For these reasons, we absolutely adore it when she pulls her hair back and lets her face take center stage. J.Lo is the epitome of elegance with her hair pulled back and her bangs parted. It was the perfect hairstyle choice for her when she attended the 32nd Annual Carousel of Hope Ball in October of 2010.
2. Her voluminous ponytail
Lopez has the gorgeous, thick, Latina hair we all dream about. Even when it’s pulled up into a ponytail (as it was for the 87th Annual Academy Awards), Lopez’s hair somehow remains perfectly voluminous and full of bounce. We can’t get enough of her honey-colored highlights and loose waves. Paired with a sparkling, blush gown, J.Lo truly looked like royalty that evening.
3. The messy up-do
Lopez can pull off just about any hair style, but the bun she sported to the Netflix Golden Globes After Party could only work on her. Her messy up-do was a cross between a loose bun and a palm-tree ponytail. To make the hair style look even thicker, Lopez wrapped her hair around the hair tie that held it all into place. At first glance, you may think this hairstyle is too disheveled for the red carpet, but that’s exactly what we love about it!
4. Long and straight
Having long, straight hair is easy, right? Wrong. J.Lo’s hair is naturally dark and very curly, so the fact that her honey-color ombré can transform into a smooth, frizzless waterfall is quite a feat. Lopez can pull off any hair color and style, but her long, straight hair is the one that always makes us wish we could be as fabulous as her for a day.
5. The rebellious pompadour
Lopez normally takes fashion risks through her wardrobe, but she has occasionally experimented with edgy hair styles as well. For example, we loved the rebellious pompadour she sported to the Costume Institute Gala in 2013, held at the most fitting venue for a piece of art like her hair: the Metropolitan Museum of Art. We’ve come to expect this type of wild hair style from Pink and Rihanna, but it was a pleasant surprise from Lopez that we hope makes another red-carpet appearance in the future.
6. The loosely-curled, low ponytail
We got major Belle from Beauty and the Beast inspiration from J.Lo’s low, loosely-curled ponytail. We loved that she was able to show off her natural beauty with it, so much so that it looked like she had just pulled back her copper locks after swimming in the ocean. She proves that sometimes, a natural glow looks even better than fully done hair and makeup.
Lopez loves having long hair, but she’s proved she can pull off mid-length hair styles as well. Her mature, collarbone-length cut at NBCUniversal’s 73rd Annual Golden Globes After Party looked extremely mature, healthy, and timeless. Complemented by her bold red lip and white dress, we couldn’t help but be reminded of Marilyn Monroe’s similarly iconic style.
8. The timeless curl
Though Lopez may be known for her contemporary Hollywood glamour, she still appreciates the allure of classic beauty. At the 69th Annual Tony Awards, J.Lo channeled 1940’s actresses like Jane Russell, Elizabeth Taylor, and Rita Hayworth with a short hair cut pinned back on one side, plus large curls underneath. With her red lipstick and stunning dress, Lopez looked like she had walked straight out of the Golden Era.
